Trouble TTC

2WW after IUI #2

I'm not sure how to do a signature at the bottom of my posts like most of you have, but I wanted to get some feedback.

We have been TTC for 2 years and so far have unexplained infertility. I did months of unmonitored Chlomid and then my OBGYN finally referred me to a fertility clinic. We decided on 3 IUIs as the next step.

We did a double dose of Clomid and a shot of Ovidrel for the IUIs. IUI #1 went well, B2B IUIs with hubby's sperm count at 98 million on day 1, 10 million on day 2, four mature follicles and the procedure went well. I was nervous but it was very easy. Didn't feel a thing. I was very hopeful but, BFN.

IUI #2, not as well, 3 mature follicles but sperm count was 8.5 million on day 1 (WTH?) and 8 million on day 2. The doctor didn't mention anything about that being a problem but it doesn't seem right to me, what a huge difference. I am now halfway through the 2WW but haven't had any symptoms or spotting. We have to do 3 IUIs before our insurance will allow an IVF. I know I shouldn't get ahead of myself and I'm trying to be hopeful. However, I have been thinking a lot about IVF, what is it like? Is it very painful? I'm just scared. Any feedback would be appreciated.

Re: 2WW after IUI #2

  • Have any of your H's previous SAs shown a problem?  Are those counts the washed total motile count?

What other infertility testing have you had?

    AMH 0.5, AFC 5-8, FSH 7ish

this exactly. I honestly can't tell you what IVF is like yet as I am just starting bc pills for my IVF cycle.

  • That's what I wondered, the first time did they give me the total number and maybe the second time it was after the wash? They spit out so many numbers between the ultrasounds with the follicles, the lining, sperm counts, it's hard to keep it all straight.

H had 2 SA tests prior to the IUIs, the first one was low but they said it wasn't alarmingly low and nothing to worry about, just slightly lower than average. The second test was average count.

All my tests have been normal. I guess I shouldn't even think about IVF, it's just hard and I do a lot of over thinking.

  • I don't know that others think or have experienced but my RE only tells us post wash numbers and motile sperm. We have had 10 million motile sperm each time. My RE said anything over 5 million is good for IUI.

Good luck and try to focus on this cycle.

  • Thank you, you're right, I have to focus on one cycle at a time.

This!  As long as your numbers are motile sperm (which you could call to verify) you should be fine.
