I think we need an ark...

I'm not sure how many of you are on the east coast...but we're bracing for what could be a nasty little storm. The storm is still SW of Cape Hatteras, NC and we're getting wind and it's been raining since last night. The storm isn't expected to come by us until at least tonight :p Worst part is DH is supposed to be off today and they're letting him come home for a few hrs, but then he has to go back. I'm glad I at least I get to see him for a while today, but I wish he was on 4 day break so he didn't have to work :/ Anyhoo...hope all of you in Sandy's path are safe and prepared!

Re: I think we need an ark...

  • We're about 1.5 hours west of the NC shore and it's been super rainy and windy since dinner time last night.  The dog doesn't even want to go outside.  We still have power, though, and I'm thankful for that.  I used to live in Philadelphia and can't imagine the magnitude this could reach by the time it reaches that area... sending good thoughts to all of you up that way!

  • We're just outside Philly on the NJ side. "Ominous" seems like a good word to describe what it looks like here right now, Sunday morning. We're not due for much until tomorrow, but things aren't looking too good. They have mandatory evacuations set for 4 pm for the casinos in Atlantic City. That's something they've only done 3 times (including today) in the past 20 years!!

We're going on w/life as usual until tonight. We're attempting to go to the zoo for their Boo at the Zoo trick or treating party since I'm scared Halloween might be rained out.

  • We're in VA across from the Del-Mar-Va Peninsula and it's a bit windy so far...and very rainy and she's not even close! DH went to NC for a shooting competition today and should "hopefully" be off tomorrow (he's a Coast Guard instructor and the waterways are closed). I definitely feel better when he's home especially when I have enough problems lugging myself around the house lol. Luckily we planned ahead and were ready for Sandy as of last night. Y'all be safe!

  • Im on the central jersey coast and they are already evacuating people. Luckily where I live it doesnt flood we are on the dry side, but a lot of family live on the bayside in the flood zone. Everyone is going crazy getting ready for this storm, its going to be a doozy, hope everyone stays safe and there isnt to much damage.

  • I live at the Jersey Shore, right where the dot is that shows the center point of landfall :/ our town has a mandatory evacuation for the area called the barrier island. If you are on an areal image, my house is about 4 miles from the ocean (across the barrier island, bay, and a small bit of land).

We're as prepared as we can be and hoping for the best! It's windy here and sprinkling on and off, but we're looking at the worst to come tomorrow and Tuesday. The high tide Monday night and full moon will be the true test of flooding in my community. Best wishes to everyone who is being affected by this storm!

I'm from south jersey, and the full moon is definitely gonna cause problems in a lot of areas. High tide around here can get pretty nasty, added with huge storms, it's likely to be pretty awful.
  • We are from CT and we are bracing for the storm as well. It is like deja vu from last Halloween, except this time it is rain and not snow. At least my little one is not here yet because if we lose power like we did last year I would be so scared to protect her! Good luck!
  • I'm from around Hershey, PA and after Lee last year everyone around here is really freaked, we prepaired as much as we can tho, hopefully it doesnt flood as bad as it did before. :/

  • I live in central PA.  The eye of the storm is supposed to pass right over us.  They are saying we could see 10-12 inches of rain.  In September of last year, our town had a historic flood.  We had 3 feet of water in the first floor of our house.  We are praying that does not happen again since it took us about an entire year to recover.  I don't feel like doing it again when I am 8 months pregnant!

  • We're right above the DelMarVa peninsula in Md and we've prepped as much as we can without going overboard. We're expecting the storm to pass directly over top of us, at least from all of the models. (We're seriously dead center of the 'cone of uncertainty'.) Guess who has a doctors appointment tomorrow at 9? This girl.

  • I'm in NC and we are expected to get some winds and a little rain but nothing major. I hope everyone in the storm's path stays safe.
