Ikea Sundvik crib - need mattress recommendation

Anyone out there have an Ikea Sundvik crib and want to tell me what mattress fits in it well? I've done a lot of reading on mattresses and a Colgate Classica sounds like a good choice, but I'd love if someone could confirm that it's a snug fit in our crib. I'm not sure how else I can find out this info! Thanks!

Re: Ikea Sundvik crib - need mattress recommendation

  • Most cribs take standard size mattresses.

  • We're considering an Ikea crib so we looked up the dimensions of the Ikea one they recommended with it. Then we found other mattresses with the same dimensions. (Pretty much all the mattresses were the same standard size.)

  • We just went with the ikea mattress with latex.  We laid on it before we put it in the crib.  Felt comfy to us.

  • We have the Gulliver w/ a Colgate Classica mattress.  I don't know if the Gulliver and Sundvik are comparable or not, but they're both from Ikea.  The Colgate Classica I fits nice and snug - perfectly.

No problem!  I am always amused that we spent more on the mattress than the crib, but DD sleeps so well on that mattress...I wouldn't change it for anything.

  • Hi: I have a 'standard' mattress from my last child, and it does NOT fit snugly into the Sundvik. Though it is standard and it meets the requirements stated by Ikea... there is a 1.5 inch gap at the head of the mattress. Some moms have mentioned on other boards that they aren't worried about that... but I sure am. So how did the Colgate Classica work? I want a snug fit on ALL four sides.
  • I cant say about Ikea Sundvik crib as I have never used it, but I have a crib and I use a standard size mattress in it and it fits perfect in it. I think you should first measure the dimensions of your crib, then only you can find a suitable mattress for it.
  • I have the Gulliver but I have heard they are the same size as the Sundvik. This is the mattress I have and I LOVE it.
