I keep reading about Braxton Hicks and the Baby Center says they start as early as 6 weeks. This is my first pregnancy and I'm learning as I go. Anyone seasoned mommies out there? How can we tell the difference between BH and RLP? Does it matter?
BH are a tightening of your uterus and will go away with water and rest. This is also how you will know the difference between BH and labor co fractions.
RLP is a sharp pain going from your hips to your rib cage. Sometimes they shoot all the way up and other times they only go part way up. They can happen for no reason or with a sneeze or cough or other sudden movements like getting up too fast. RL are like the ute's bra or suspenders. They hold the uterus up while it's growing and, like a bra or suspenders, they get stretched out. When you feel the pain that is when the RL are over stretched.
This. Also BH aren't supposed to hurt; it just feels tight (or kind of like the baby is pushing out). You may not even notice it at all.
