1. What hours does your DH work?
4 on 4 off, 12 hour shifts with 1 hour+ commute each way. He rotates days & nights each week. Day shift he is gone 4:30am-7:30 pm. Night shift he is gone 4:20 pm-7:30 am.
2. When he gets home does he get time to eat dinner/relax? How much?
Days, he usually goes downstairs & gets on the treadmill, comes up to put the kids to bed and then showers & eats. Nights he usually works out when he wakes up, hangs with the kids while he eats and then leaves.
3. In a given day how what does he help with the kids?
He helps where he can. He does a lot when he is home.
4. In a given day what does he help around the house with?
When he is working, none. On days off maybe switching laundry, cooking, emptying the dishwasher.
5. How often does he cook?
Maybe, maybe once a week.
6. How often does he watch the kids so you can do things for yourself?
I try to get out once every 2 weeks. Mom's Night Out Thursday night!!!

ETA: #7 - Usually 1-2x during his days off. He is honestly too tired during his work week to think about it.

1. What hours does your DH work? He usually works 8am until about 8pm (sometimes later).

2. When he gets home does he get time to eat dinner/relax? How much? When he eats after he gets home, the kids are usually in bed, so he is able to relax. He also often eats at work.

3. In a given day how what does he help with the kids? DH has a pretty long commute so he usually leaves pretty early and doesn't get home from work until after the kids are in bed or right before they go to bed. He does usually take DS to preschool on Tues/Thurs because it's on his way to work.

4. In a given day what does he help around the house with? During the week, by the time he gets home from work, most of what needs to get done has already been completed. On the weekends, he does a lot more.

5. How often does he cook? He usually cooks dinner on Sunday.

6. How often does he watch the kids so you can do things for yourself? salon, spa, mani/pedis, work out classes, girls nights, etc. I try and schedule most things for days/times when both kids are in school and don't do too many girls nights. I would say he watches the kids about once a month. DH has started taking the kids out to lunch on Sunday, so that gives me some alone time and it's also good for the kids to spend some time with just their dad.

1. What hours does your DH work? 8-5, but he has an hour commute so he leaves at 7 gets home at 6.
2. When he gets home does he get time to eat dinner/relax? How much? We eat dinner together as soon as he gets home. He doesn't usually relax until we're getting DD ready for bed around 7:30.
3. In a given day how what does he help with the kids? There isn't anything that he does every day. Sometimes it's baths, bedtime, and if it's nice he'll take DD & the dog outside to play.
4. In a given day what does he help around the house with? He handles the trash & recycling, all yard & garden work.
5. How often does he cook? Usually only on weekends because he doesn't get home until 6. I like to eat as soon as he gets home so we can have family time.

7. How often does he initiate sex? He talks about it 24/7 but initiates it's a couple of times a week.

1. What hours does your DH work? It depends, he works shifts.

2. When he gets home does he get time to eat dinner/relax? How much? Again, it depends because he doesn't have a set schedule. Often by the time he gets home DS is already in bed so we both relax a bit before we eat dinner. If it's a late shift and he gets home at 3am, he goes right to bed.

3. In a given day how what does he help with the kids?Again, dependent on his schedule....if he's home, he just does what needs doing...we don't have a real set schedule as far as who does what.

4. In a given day what does he help around the house with? He takes the trash out every day

5. How often does he cook? Twice a week on his days off.

6. How often does he watch the kids so you can do things for yourself? salon, spa, mani/pedis, work out classes, girls nights, etc. I usually do this stuff during the day and get a sitter. If he happens to be off or off early enough to stay with DS for GNO then he does. Otherwise, I get a sitter. He has so little time at home with the family that I generally don't schedule anything when he's off unless it's a family activity.

1. What hours does your DH work? 6 a.m. to 3 p.m.
2. When he gets home does he get time to eat dinner/relax? Yup, every day. How much? He gets home around 3:30-4, we have dinner at about 5. He says hi to the kids and hangs out for a minute, then checks his e-mail and changes out of his work clothes. He plays with the kids until dinner.
3. In a given day how what does he help with the kids? He helps feed them dinner and cleans them up when we're done. He plays with them after dinner while I clean up dinner dishes. He puts DD1 to bed every night (reads her stories, brushes teeth, etc.) and we each brush one of the babies' teeth and put them to bed together. On the weekend, he helps out more but it's still like a 70/30 split... maybe 60/40.
4. In a given day what does he help around the house with? During the week, he doesn't do much around the house. On the weekend, he is in charge of vaccuuming (he's weird, he LOVES to vaccuum!). He does all of the yard work and keeps the garage tidy.
5. How often does he cook? Every Sunday night.
6. How often does he watch the kids so you can do things for yourself? salon, spa, mani/pedis, work out classes, girls nights, etc I try to see a friend or go somewhere by myself once a week. Sometimes my MIL watches the kids, sometimes DH does. (I've only been SAH about a month but so far, I've done something on my own once a week.)
7. How often does he initiate sex? Once a week or so. I try to initiate it but he usually beats me to the punch.

Right now DH is deployed but I'll answer for his civilian schedule. Guess its also important to note that we only had a toddler when he left. He hasn't met the baby and won't until she's around 9mos old.

1. What hours does your DH work?

Before he left he worked Saturday through Wednesday, 3pm to 8pm with at least an hour commute each way. He'll have a different schedule when he comes home.

2. When he gets home does he get time to eat dinner/relax? How much?

Since he got home so late I'd try to have dinner ready so we could eat dinner together. He didn't normally get down time until after E's bedtime.

3. In a given day how what does he help with the kids?

Whatever needs to be done. Usually all diaper changes when he's home.

4. In a given day what does he help around the house with?

Dishes because I loathe that chore. Anything else I ask.

5. How often does he cook?

Not often. He really only cooks pasta, frozen pizza or microwave stuff.

Not often but I also don't try. He's good about keeping her occupied for me to relax at home.

2. When he gets home does he get time to eat dinner/relax? How much? We try to eat dinner as a family every night. If he doesn't make it in time, he gobbles up his dinner as quick as he can and helps me with the kids. So not much time to himself.

3. In a given day how what does he help with the kids? Whatever needs to be done. At this age there is no tally of diapers changed or bottles washed.

4. In a given day what does he help around the house with? He does his own laundry and cleans the kitchen after dinner.

5. How often does he cook? Never, thank god.

6. How often does he watch the kids so you can do things for yourself? I do all that stuff while she's at school. I don't do a lot of girl's nights, we usually do lunch.

We eat dinner as a family when he gets home. Eating together is really important to us. Then while I clean up he does bath and bed with the girls. After that he usually works on freelance work until bedtime.

Prior to taking his new job he fed them breakfast before waking me up and also did the bed/bath thing. Now he has to leave earlier but tries to always be home for bath/bed. He hates how little he sees them on week days.

4. In a given day what does he help around the house with?
He doesn't do as much around the house given the length of his days. But he has always taken care of trash, recycling and litter and will gladly do other things if I ask.

5. How often does he cook?
Not often. He hates cooking and I love it, so I usually cook. Also, I try to have dinner ready the second he comes in since it already puts us at a fairly late dinner time. There's no way we could wait for him to cook after getting in at 6:30-7.

Not often, but only because we can't afford it. I SAH because I can't earn daycare costs, not because he makes so much I don't need to work. So we don't often have the money for extras right now (once he finishes postdoc we'll be in a much better position). But he gladly would stay with the kids so I could get out weekly or more if we had the means.

Lately its been twice a week, both times for about 2-3 hours. 1. What hours does your DH work? He can set his own schedule so it really varies. Some days he goes in early so he can be home by 445, some days he stays home a bit later and comes home around 530. The only thing consistent is he spends about 9 hours at the office and about 20 minutes tops commuting--his job is less than 10 minutes from our house.

2. When he gets home does he get time to eat dinner/relax? How much? I couldn't put a number on it--it entirely depends on how the kids were that day/how they are that evening.

3. In a given day how what does he help with the kids? Does bathttime at night, changes diapers, plays with them.

4. In a given day what does he help around the house with? On a day to day basis he totally sucks. He's really great at helping with big projects around the house though, like when closets need to be cleaned/organized.

3. In a given day how what does he help with the kids? Bath time is 'his thing.' And he helps cleaning up after dinner, getting pj's on and evening play. Playing with the kids while I cook dinner is a huge help.
4. In a given day what does he help around the house with? He does all of his ironing and washes his uniforms. That's about it, unless I ask him.
5. How often does he cook? Dinner, rarely. But he'll cook breakfast some on the weekends.

On a day off or on day shift, he'll entertain them and help with daily activities and bedtimes. Night shifts, he can't help at all.

He mows the lawn, weeds the yard, fixes everything, and usually has a todo list.

1. What hours does your DH work? The last 3 months 5am-5pm, but hopefully back to 6am-4pm sometime soon. He is also travels and is on call 24/7 so if something is going on he has to be there.

3. In a given day how what does he help with the kids? He helps as much as he can. He spends a lot of time playing with DS when he is home.
4. In a given day what does he help around the house with? trash, the lawn, plants, dishes. He will also help with anything I ask, but I try to let him just enjoy his bonding time with DS.

Our schedual changes from day 2 day. My DH teachs at a local college part time, goes to school for his masters and we run our own business. There are somedays he leave before we get up and gets home after we go to bed. But for the days he is home

1. Changes daily.

2. We eat dinner as a family and then spend time as a family

3. Changes diapers, givers her a bath, story time, plays with her and puts her to bed. (each day verys but them are some of the thing he helps with)

4. Feeding and water the pets, changing the kitty litter, trash, if I ask he will do more like cleaning the bathroom or vacuuming. (but thats not very often)

5. He does very little cooking and when he does its something frozen or something on the grill.

6. He will watch our dd anytime I ask but its not often that I ask she goes to daycare 2 days a week and my grandmas 1. During that time I get my work done and shopping and me time. Since he has little time at home we mostly spend that time together.

2. When he gets home does he get time to eat dinner/relax? How much? Not really. He jumps right in to take care of the kids while I finish dinner.

3. In a given day how what does he help with the kids? He pretty much does everything that I do (except nurse, of course). He's gotten really good at getting up in the middle of the night and putting her back to sleep quickly.

4. In a given day what does he help around the house with? Once a week, he brings out the garbage, changes the cat litter, and does the recycling. The rest of the house work is pretty much my job unless I ask for help.

3. In a given day how what does he help with the kids? He does all the feedings and diaper changes once he's home from work. that way I can cook dinner, fold some laundry, and relax with him. On the weekends he gets up early with LO and lets me sleep in (he's an early riser anyway) and we split everything 50/50
4. In a given day what does he help around the house with? He'll put in and help fold laundry, unload the dishwasher if I needs it, hell help with dinner or whatever.
5. How often does he cook? Whenever he gets the urge. He prefers for me to cook because I make better food, but sometimes he'll find a recipe he wants to try

2. When he gets home does he get time to eat dinner/relax? How much? Not really. He goes to the gym after work. When he gets home it's dinner time then DD's bath and bed time. We relax together after she goes down for the night.

2. When he gets home does he get time to eat dinner/relax? How much? He gets home at 4:30, so yeah he will eat dinner later and have time to relax. Bed around 10:30
3. In a given day how what does he help with the kids? Plays with them, may help a bit with bedtime routine. Cares for them if I am teaching dance.

5. How often does he cook? Only on special occasions

1. What hours does your DH work? It's variable...he works from home on a project-to-project basis with deadlines, which he fits in around his school schedule. But he's basically "on call" to answer calls and emails and troubleshoot from 9-6.

2. When he gets home does he get time to eat dinner/relax? How much? He usually jumps right in with DD and I when he gets done work. On nights he has school (M & T), I try to have dinner ready for the three of us when he gets home, and then he has some time to relax and play on the computer while I give her a bath.

3. In a given day how what does he help with the kids? He plays with her while I clean or straighten up or do laundry. I usually give him a choice after dinner between cleaning up the kitchen or bath time with DD, and he is 50/50 on which one he picks.

4. In a given day what does he help around the house with? Eh, not that much in the cleaning department, that's pretty much my job. But he is in charge or trash & recycling, keeping up with the lawn, cleaning up after and feeding the pets.

5. How often does he cook? Dinner, once every two weeks or when I really don't feel like it. Breakfast, about once a week.

How often does he watch the kids so you can do things for yourself? salon, spa, mani/pedis, work out classes, girls nights, etc. We don't have a lot of extra money for those types of things, but he's always willing to watch her if I want to run to the store by myself for a break, which is great. 1. What hours does your DH work? He leaves the house at 7:15a and gets home around 7:30. He has a 20-30min commute depending on traffic.
2. When he gets home does he get time to eat dinner/relax? How much? He usually plays with the kids for 30 min helps me put them to bed. Then he eats dinner.

1. What hours does your DH work? His schedule changes a lot, but he works 10 hours a day, 5 days a week.

2. When he gets home does he get time to eat dinner/relax? How much? He will usually have a shower, eat dinner, and then help with our son until DS's bed time. Then he gets to relax, and so do I! Usually about an hour before we go to bed ourselves.

3. In a given day how what does he help with the kids? Hubby will play with our son, change him... if I want him to do anything else, though, I need to specify, especially when it comes to feeding time lately. With DS starting to eat more solid food than formula, I need to make sure hubby knows what to feed him, or my son will just get bottles all day. At night, I have to get up with hubby, or else he won't get up at all, and it's up to me.

4. In a given day what does he help around the house with? If I really bug him to, he'll help me with laundry or dishes. Otherwise, I take care of everything.

5. How often does he cook? Maybe once a week.

6. How often does he watch the kids so you can do things for yourself? salon, spa, mani/pedis, work out classes, girls nights, etc Never. I haven't had a proper Me-Day since our son was born.

7. How often does he initiate sex? He tries to at least once a week, but I haven't felt like it in so long... I usually cave once a month... I'm really just not into it lately.

All this said, I really do love my husband, and I'm not complaining about how little he helps with housework. He works 50 or more hours a week, so when he's home, I want him to be able to enjoy his time with our son. I would like some more time for myself once in a while, but right now, I honestly wouldn't know what to do with that time if I had it! lol!

1. What hours does your DH work? Leaves between 7-7:30am, home between 6-7pm, 5 days a week.
2. When he gets home does he get time to eat dinner/relax? I am usually bathing the kids when he gets home so if so, he will eat in front of the TV before coming up to help with stories and bedtime. If he is home early he will play a game with the girls. After bedtime he has down time for the rest of the night.
3. In a given day how what does he help with the kids? During the week, not a whole lot. He puts DD1 to bed most nights but DD2 is often in bed before he gets home. On the weekends, he does a little more of the "work" but a ton of play with them. I am not the best at playing so this usually works for us.
4. In a given day what does he help around the house with? Very little. He will load the dishwasher if there are dishes in the sink and if I remind him it is there, he will do laundry.
5. How often does he cook? Tuesday nights he does dinner for himself and the kids so I can take an exercise class
6. How often does he watch the kids so you can do things for yourself? salon, spa, mani/pedis, work out classes, girls nights, etc Whenever I want for the most part. Sometimes when he gets home, I will run out to do errands while he gets them to bed. Same for Saturday morning if I need to grocery shop. Tuesday nights I take an exercise class. If I have plans for the weekend with a friend it is never an issue. Plus I work every 8th weekend and he's always got them then.
7. How often does he initiate sex? All the time. Seriously, we are very unmatched in our sex drives.

Usually 7-4, but sometimes he's on nights or afternoons. It varies a lot. Oh, and 5 days a week.

2. When he gets home does he get time to eat dinner/relax? How much?

Yes. On Mondays and Wednesdays he volunteers, so those are busier nights, but usually he's home by 4:30/5:00 and I try to have the house tidy and dinner made so we can just enjoy ourselves the rest of the evening.

From the time he gets home until DD's bed time, he'll help as much as I need him to. Usually this just means playing with her while I finish up/serve dinner. He does baths a lot. On weekends we share baby duties.... well, pretty much.

4. In a given day what does he help around the house with?

On week nights he might take on a small repair, help with the dishes, or throw in a few loads of laundry for me. Nothing too big... I prefer to get as much as I can done before he gets home so that we can relax together. On weekends he does as much work around the house as I do.

5. How often does he cook?

DH loves to cook, but I usually do it before he gets home. On weekends he usually does one of the dinners, and at least helps with the other one, and he always makes me eggs for breakfast on Saturdays.

Never, but that's because DD is still EBF and doesn't take a bottle. She needs me to nurse her at bedtime. Sometimes he'll take her so I can go grocery shopping alone... for, like, 30 minutes. Ugh.

Twice a week? Sometimes less, sometimes more... but we average about twice a week.

If he works until 2pm which is normally, then he makes dinner for us and actually can spend the night/rest of afternoon with us, if at 4pm, he has less time, but still time to spend with us before the kids go to sleep.

He changes diapers, feeds pumped milk in bottles, feeds the older kids, plays with the older kids, gets the kids ready for bed, snuggles with them, puts them to bed. Pretty much anything he wants/I tell him to do. He's pretty good about doing stuff.
4. In a given day what does he help around the house with?
He loads the dishwasher, occasionally does laundry, sweeps and cleans up the kitchen every night, vacuums. Again, he's really good about doing stuff.
5. How often does he cook?
Mostly every night. He is a chef so he loves cooking and is very passionate about it.

Depends on when I want to do things for myself.

3. In a given day how what does he help with the kids? He helps me get DS ready for bed/bath at night. We take turns putting him down for bed.

5. How often does he cook? Never. Don't even know if he knows how to boil water.

1. What hours does your DH work? Most days he leaves at 6:30 am and is home between 4:30-5:30 pm, depending on whether or not he works overtime that day.
2. When he gets home does he get time to eat dinner/relax? How much? Yes, we eat dinner around 5:30 usually, and he relaxes and plays with DD before and after. Occasionally he works on a car or house project, but not until Evie goes to bed.
3. In a given day how what does he help with the kids? He plays with her.... on weekdays that's about it. On the weekends he'll do an occasional diaper change, and helps out keeping her occupied more actively.
4. In a given day what does he help around the house with? He takes the trash out, and does house and car maintenance. No real housework unless I ask him to do something specific.
5. How often does he cook? Sunday morning breakfast every week, and dinner maybe 1-2 times a month
6. How often does he watch the kids so you can do things for yourself? salon, spa, mani/pedis, work out classes, girls nights, etc 2-4 times a month, for me to go out in the evenings to shop, have coffee with a friend or my mom or sis, or go for a pedi with my sister

1. What hours does your DH work? About 5/6am until about 5pm, 5 days a week. He is in the Army, so he has required physical training first thing in the morning, he does not start his desk job until 8 or 9am depending on the day.
2. When he gets home does he get time to eat dinner/relax? How much? We have a newborn, so she sleeps a lot, so both of us are able to relax at night while she sleeps on one of us.
3. In a given day how what does he help with the kids? He helps with feedings (I EP), diaper changes, etc when he is home. He is very hands on.
4. In a given day what does he help around the house with? He mainly does outdoor things like mow the lawn, and I do indoor things like the dishes. If we are deep cleaning though we do that together. He also does his own laundry.
5. How often does he cook? Maybe once or so a week, he is a pretty good cook.
6. How often does he watch the kids so you can do things for yourself? salon, spa, mani/pedis, work out classes, girls nights, etc How ever often I need him to. I try to get out once a day, even if it is just to the store.

2. When he gets home does he get time to eat dinner/relax? much? Yes, at least he gets to eat dinner in more peace than I do. But sometimes he has to hold the baby too. Then he plays on his laptop (which is crazy, I think he should use this time to play with the kids and do games once they are in bed)
3. In a given day how what does he help with the kids? he does bath every other time, changes the babies diaper every other time, and does play with them some.
4. In a given day what does he help around the house with? He does cook most dinners! maybe take the trash out if I set it by the door, maybe do a few dishes (if asked).
5. How often does he cook? A lot. He makes dinner about 3-4 times a week.
6. How often does he watch the kids so you can do things for yourself? salon, spa, mani/pedis, work out classes, girls nights, etc He watches the kids for me maybe once or twice a month. That is when I go out with the girls. I would love to have him watch them while I workout 3xs a week...but not going to happen

3. In a given day how what does he help with the kids?-He's very good at keeping him occupied while I'm getting stuff done. I take care of bath and bedtime though but he does his part of the routine with him while I make a bottle. Weekends it's a lot more.
4. In a given day what does he help around the house with?-He picks up after himself...weekends he works on the yard, cars, etc. The more "manly" stuff that I don't want to do.
5. How often does he cook-Maybe once a month. I love to cook so I don't let him very often. If I don't feel like cooking we go out or order in.

2. When he gets home does he get time to eat dinner/relax? How much? If he gets home before the kids are in bed, he jumps right in with bath and bed routines. We eat dinner together after the kids are in bed, so he relaxes while I am cooking

4. In a given day what does he help around the house with? Whatever needs to be done. He is always doing home improvement type stuff and all the outdoor stuff. If I need help with something or he sees something that needs to be done he does it
5. How often does he cook? Rarely. I cook 5-6 nights a week and the other nights we'll do leftovers or order. He makes breakfast every weekend
