5 o'clock nap:how do I get rid of it?

the past week DS has been taking a 5pm nap for about an hour. He goes to bed still at 7-7:30. But I want to stop this habit now, any advice?

Re: 5 o'clock nap:how do I get rid of it?

  • I have no advice about how to stop it, but why do you want to?? DD consistently takes a short nap from 4-5 and then goes down for the night at 7. I love having that hour to get dinner ready or throw a load of laundry in. I imagine she'll drop it when she no longer needs it.?

  • b/c I'm hoping he'll go down and sleep till 7 or 8 in the morning, instead of 5 or 6.Stick out tongue
  • If he goes to bed fine at 7 or 7:30, I don't know what you'd want to drop it either. DD's bedtime is 6 or 6:30, so we don't do any napping past 5.

  • maybe i'll try an earlier bedtime.......if I start his bedtime routine at 5:00 (dinner, bath, massage, story, nurse) he'll be in bed by 6 or 6:30. That might help. Yes
  • I think the earlier bedtime is your best bet or wait until he outgrows it. ?If he's anything like my child there is not much you can do to get him to sleep later, believe me we tried it all! ?If he's adding in a 3rd nap he may also be going through a growth spurt.
