Changing freakout :/

Lately, as soon as I put DD on the changing table she starts arching her back and screaming. She did something like this before (I think I mentioned it once) but now she's arching so much that one time she pushed herself almost completely off the table. I mean I had to grab her by her legs and her head and half her torso was dangling off the table! :O

Anybody else, any tips?? Do I try to correct this behavior? I mean I don't even know what the issue is so I don't know if the word NO would be correct to apply here... I'm kind of stumped :/

 TIA!

  • We're going through this too.  I can't be of much help, but I would just start changing diapers or clothes on the floor when you're at home. I'm not sure about when you're out and about, maybe distraction with a toy or the wipes package? DD likes the crinkly noise it makes, so I usually let her hold them during the change.

Ah ... Must be another phase... I, too give her the wipes or a clean diaper and she'll play with that. But sometimes nothing works :/

And the floor is sometimes even worse because she then just wants to roll around naked. LOL

  • We've been doing this for a while now.  My only luck is if she's in a good mood I can offer her a choice between two small toys (just giving her a toy doesn't cut it - she needs to be in control!).  If she's not in a good mood... well, then forget it.

I've been trying to talk her through her freakouts, hoping she'll eventually understand.  So I say "DD, I have to change your diaper.  DD, I know you're mad, but we have to change your diaper." in a calm voice...  nothing yet, but at least I feel more in control and less like I'm the worst Momma ever.

  • I'm really glad I'm not the only one lol. DD has been doing this for a little over a month now. We've always changed her on the floor, but the only way I can change her without her screaming and thrashing around everywhere is give her a bottle. But since we've been eating more solids & less formula, that's out the door. A toy usually only lasts just long enough for me to get the diaper unsnapped before she decides to wiggle around in the poo! I don't know what to do either, I usually just have to let her throw her fit, she's over it the second I let her sit up, so she's obviously fine!
