NIFR: Craptastic day

Back last March DH was diagnosed with a kidney stone. The thing was pretty big (borderline passable 5mm ). We went to see a urologist, He said that since the pain subsided that we would just let it take it's course and hopefully it will break up and be passed on it's own.

The stone really hadn't caused DH much trouble until Wednesday of this week. About mid day he started having pains. Thursday morning (3am) DH couldn't stand the pain any longer so we headed to the ER for some pain management. Then Thursday I called all around to find a urologist who could see him right away and hopefully operate on him before the weekend. The stone is now at 4x6mm 10mm from his bladder.

Today he had the stone removed. Poor DH was absolutely miserable and now he is incredibly sore from the stent and manipulation they had to do to remove the stone. He's been bleeding from an orfice no man ever wants to see blood. I feel so bad for him.

Then to top it off when we get home from the hospital there is a message on our answering machine from our primary care physician. Apparently they saw some abnormalities from his pre-surgery EKG. They are scheduling an appointment for next week to see a cardiologist. Crying

The fun never stops coming our way and why is it that every time we do a fertility type procedure (ivf, or this cycle iui) something has to happen to cause us extra stress. It's like someone has it in for us.

Ugh to the kidney stone!! Hope DH's recovery is quick. Hope the cardiologist isn't concerned about what was seen or if he is, it is much better to deal with before something happens than after.. Hugs for the stress!! Are you in the 2ww from the iui with lots of follies??!( saw on other board) Fx'd for you!

I am so sorry you guys are going through this!! Wishing YH a very speedy recovery (and lots of patience to you while you take care of him!!) and hoping that the following up tests show that the drs are just being cautious!

ETA: Just read Mrs. Mcirish's posts...if you are in the 2ww, sending you lots and lots of luck that you've got great things going on right now, even though YH is a little under the weather!

thanks ladies! Yes, we are in the 2 ww for our first (believe or not) IUI. My response was unusually good for me and it appeared I had three for sure mature follicles and one I believe ovulated right before the ultrasound.

DH is not a new man yet but his sharp crazy pains are gone and they have been replaced by a constant dull ache. He says he can handle that.

McIrish, after a thought about it, maybe the stone was a blessing in disguise. He would have never had an EKG otherwise. Like you said, now we can treat it befoe anything serious happened.

I am so sorry. I hope everything turns out okay. A close friend of mine just went through something very similar with her live in boyfriend. Keep us posted on the outcome. I would be happy to get you in touch with her to discuss her experience - she is delightful! Fingers crossed that your doc is just taking an extra precaution and everything is A okay with your DH!
