Baby Names

We have a girl name!

If DC3 is a girl she will be Elizabeth Renee! We will call her Betsy.

It feels so good to have something set in stone. There are other girl names that I would have liked to incorporate, but this is something that honors MIL and my sister and DH and I can agree on it.

DH said it out loud the other night and almost got teary. I have to be honest, I will be a bit disappointed if we don't have  girl simply because we won't get to have a baby Betsy.

  • I love Betsy!!

Can i ask why you are going with Elizabeth, and not just Betsy? I would just worry that when she gets to school she may have to go by 'Elizabeth' or maybe start using one of the many other nn for Elizabeth.

I don't see this being a problem at all.  DH's 19 year old cousin is a Betsy and I didn't know for years into dating him that her actual name is Elizabeth.

We prefer Elizabeth because she would be named after DH's mom. Technically they will have the same first and last name, so we wanted to "pre-pick" a nickname for her. Also, I want to give her a full name to use as an adult if she chooses to (as we did with our son Maxwell).

I'm not worried about her being called something else. They always ask what you like to go by and she will know how to spell/write both names before she goes to school.

I understand completely. I was wondering if Elizabeth was a family name. I also like that u are giving her a name that she can grow with and change as she gets older. However, I think Betsy is one of those nn that work for a baby, teen, and adult!

Btw love Maxwell. It would have been on our short list but it doesn't go with our last name :
