Baby stats

How are those babies doing?

DD had her 9 month wellness checkup yesterday and here are her stats:

height: 29" - 87th percentile

weight: 22.5lbs - 94th percentile

head: can't remember the actual measurement but also 87th percentile

Also, what did your doc tell you about water intake etc? We are still supposed to keep it at 2oz per day but then he said if she doesnt take 20oz of formula (DD hasn't been too thrilled about formula lately) to give her up to 4oz of juice per day that can be mixed with water as well so it's not as sugary... Just curious

Haven't had his checkup yet, but I'm guessing he's probably about 20 or 21 lbs by now.  His head continues to be large, so if his weight/height is 50%ile, his head is probably still 80%ile

As for the juice, I was told by a baby nutritionist that juice isn't really the best thing for baby unless you make it yourself because of the sugar.  Too much probably isn't a bad thing, but if it was me, I'd offer plain water.  I'm no expert though.

we haven't had the 9 mo appointment either (it's friday) but we were at the dr. a couple weeks ago (to check his ears) and he was about 23lbs and about 28.5 inches. we didn't measure his head. He's been running about 95th%ile for weight and 75th for height.

the dr. has said to give water in a sippy with meals. I don't limit his intake. I also give it to him more often if it's hot. I can't measure his milk intake since I nurse him still, even on daycare days he's only taking 10-12 oz of milk.

our dr. office says no juice for babies. they don't recommend it ever, but we do give it to our 3 year old as a treat every so often. He drinks water only, he's never liked cow's milk (and weaned from breast milk long ago...)

DD is tiny, her stats for her 9mo appointment are 15lbs 11oz & 26.25".  She's around 12th%.  Our ped would prefer we never give juice and said she would prefer DD drink BM, but we can give water (especially if its hot out or DD is too distracted to nurse).

They've never measured his head. Doctor said half juice and water is fine if the juice is clear. I only give him juice at breakfast. We didn't discuss how much formula he's taking.

Why have they never measured his head? It's part of determining healthy growth and development.

Hm, our doc always tells us to watch it with water as babies this young can't process the water correctly and too much of it would result in flushing out too much salt out of the body which could be dangerous and lead to kidney issues etc. And the juice thing, I'd also like to skip it. I think he probably meant to offer it if she's refusing other liquids.... But DD LOVES water! So I'll just stick with that.

DS is 30 inches, and 21 pounds.  He has a huge head.  I can't remember when it is, other than huge lol.  18-24 month hats are snug on him!

My doc hasn't said anything about water, but juice is not recommended at all - not watered down even, until after the age of 1 (and even then very small amounts).  We give DS water during the day.

She also hasn't mentioned his formula intake (I bf and formula feed so it's a bit difficult to tell what he gets), other than to say "He's gaining the right amount of weight, not too big, not too small, so keep doing what you're doing!"  She's pretty chill, but very knowledgeable if I have specific questions.

Head measurement is actually a more recent thing doctors do.  It isn't as important a number as weight and height.

Will had his 9 month checkup 2 weeks ago and he weighed 19 lbs 7 oz (50th percentile) and was 29 1/2 inches long (75th percentile).  His head was also in the 75th percentile.

I didn't ask about water intake..  He doesn't drink much though because I only give it to him in a sippy cup and he thinks that they are chew toys!  He is mainly BF but when I work he will usually take 12 to 16 oz of BM (and sometimes formula if I haven't pumped enough) in the 8 to 12 hours I'm gone.

There are certain disorders dx'd in infancy that are easiest/earliest caught by the head measurement.  They are rare, but it is kinda important

She had her 9 month check up last week.  She was 18 lbs 12 oz (50th %ile) and 29 inches (90th %ile).  I can remember her head measurement, but it was also 50th %ile.

We had our 9 month last Friday. Height = 29 inches, Weight = 18lbs, 7oz.

Our pedi said she wants us to try and beef Z up a little bit more. I got upset at first giving myself major Mommy guilt, but otherwise he is happy and healthy and seeing everyone else's stats on here makes me feel better as well.

DD is a tiny girl but doing awesome and hitting alll her milestones early. She's only 17lbs 2 oz (25th percentile) and 29 inches (90th). Head is 50th. She is long and lean! I have breastfed the whole time no formula (except during her hospital stay when she was born a couple times). Doc said there is no need to "fatten" her up. She is gaining on her curve beautifully. I am totally cool with this and actually love that she's still tiny. Doesn't stop me from trying to feed her non-stop though. :)

    This!

    My DD is 28.5 inches (69% I think), 16lbs (16th%) and has a big head at 60%.

As my DH said, she's smart (b/c of the big head :)), tall and thin, who does that sound like?  Her mama!  lol, it was cute.

Our pedi said no juice (ever. lol.), and didn't encourage water either, but said we could try a sippy if we want at meals with water.  She said it wasn't a big deal since DD still nurses 6-8 times a day (3 of those being 3 small bottles at daycare).  We can add it in as we want, but she eats like a champ and has great coordination so there was no concern that she would figure it out whenever we start giving it.

We will not be doing juice, but that's mostly because we don't drink juice ourselves.

I did see a 10mo baby at daycare today eating a chocolate chip cookie that his mother had given him?!?  Wow.

Hallelujah, it's a miracle, I have children AND a signature!
