possibly teething issue?

Stella hasn't gone beyond 8 teeth - four up/four down for several months.  I think she may be getting molars, but I'm not sure and scared to feel around in there.  The only two things that are making me think she could be is that she is coughing a lot (usually 2-3 hours after going to bed and during naps) with nothing else (no runny nose, fever, etc.) going on and she is is frequently attempting to gnaw a finger or two off.  Thoughts?

Re: possibly teething issue?

  • Molars take FOREVER to break through and then fully come in once teething for them starts.  I was amazed at how different canines and molars have been from the front teeth.  She could definitely be at the beginning (or even close to them breaking through).  DD has some friends her age who still don't have more than 4-8 teeth so I wouldn't be worried that she doesn't have more yet.

  • I agree with waterfall molars take For.Eh.Ver. She's probably working on some. C gnawed and is currently gnawing on his fingers like they're made of sugar. He'd then get a rash, a103 fever, then 2 molars. That happened twice.

  • Could be teething. My DD had cold symptoms for a month before her molars broke through. I thought for the longest time it might be allergies, but now, I think it had to do with the molars. A cough combined with gnawing could certainly be teeth. The molars are rough. Good luck!

  • She is being somewhat of a cranky pants this morning (or maybe it is Mommy that is) but i do believe it is teething. She has gnawed through a box of markers today and has either been sucking on boogie wipes (yes i am serious...i think orajel is missing an opportunity there) or a cold wet washcloth.
