My son is weird.

He insists that certain things are in order. If the pantry door is open, he closes it. If the garbage can is moved, he will try to move it back. If the baby lock on the oven is open, he tries to lock it. Once I was getting a pie pan out of a drawer and the rolling pin inside the drawer was off its holder. He walked over to me and put the rolling pin in its rightful place then walked away. This morning he put his chunks of bananas in a row.
Does anyone's LO do strange things like this?

Re: My son is weird.

  • My oldest did that. He's super OCD about things being in order, straight lines, grouped by size or color. He's really into patterns and pairs.

  • Both of mine have those sorts of tendencies. I have to prop the front door open if I want a breeze because they will come in from other rooms to shut it. Char likes to line up toys and magnets and tell me that they're watching us. Mildly creepy. But then again they both love taking the entire toy basket apart and throwing each item all over. So I don't think it is anything more than their way of making sense of their world, if that's where your mind was going.

rous, I think you should encourage that behaviour!

We are all about destruction and mayhem in this house. Order is not appreciated and will be torn down.

This! S is destructive. There is no organization haha.

  • Lily's going through a neat and tidy kick, too.  She's loving putting things in boxes/baskets, like grabbing any and all clothing she can find to put in the laundry basket and putting fridge magnets into a box in the kitchen.  During bathtime she likes to take her washcloth and lay it on the edge of the tub and smooths it out so that there are no wrinkles.  But she also pulls every single book off the shelves on a regular basis, and knocks the papers off the coffee table and stuff like that.  It just depends on her mood and what the items are, it seems.

  • Glad to hear D isn't the only one. I think you are right Pear, it is his way of making sense of his world.
I effing love watching him grow. I wonder what other quirks he will have.
