I can't give you any details on procedure, but my brother had this done as a toddler and he is now 18 and healthy as can be. From what I remember, it wasn't too bad of a recovery. Lots of ice cream and jello. Good luck!
My son had to have his adenoids removed as well as tubes put in his ears and his tongue clipped.
He was 15 months old when he had it done. With all three procedures it took about 45 minutes. He never really had much pain, but spiked a fever about 2 days after the fact, then was fine after that. He was eating, drinking, and playing like normal soon after. We did give his tylenol #3 to him a couple of times, but otherwise it was a great experience.
They took him back and gave him some gas to knock him out before putting the iv in and giving him the general anesthetic.
Not sure if that was what you were looking for, but if you have any questions let me know!
DS1 had them removed when he was just under 3. He also had his hernia fixed and that is the only thing he complained about. He was fine in 2 days and back at daycare. The adenoids took about 20 min. DS2 had them removed when he got his tubes. He was 14 months. He was fine the next day.
a friend's child just had them removed--along w/his tonsils. Recovery was a few weeks and she had to keep him as quiet as she could (ex couldnt go to gymnastics for 3-4 wks). He was sore (but again, had tonsils removed too).
Thank you for posting this...I normally post on the PG>35 board but I also have a 2.5 year old DS that is having his tonsils and adenoids removed tomorrow. I know it's a pretty routine procedure on toddlers these days but as a Mom I can't help but be nervous. I appreciate the posts and any other advice any one has to share would be helpful. Thanks!
OP - when is your DSs surgery?

Both of my kids have had their adenoids removed. DS seriously was back to normal within several hours...it doesn't cause pain the way tonsils do.
There are no food or acitivty restrictions afterwards...meaning you don't need cold or soft food.
