Friday Whine: Took a spill down stairs with DS (Update)

Our house is a bit odd in that the street is higher than our front yard. We have 5 cement steps leading from the street down to our sidewalk. I got DS out of the car, went to walk down the steps with him last night, stepped on a 3"x3" piece of brick on the very top step (which I didn't see and that shouldn't have been there), lost my balance and ended up going straight down onto the sidewalk. I only remember trying to grab my newspaper box in an attempt to regain balance then grabbing DS's head and body.

DS is OK aside from some road rash on his wrist. I am pretty banged up in my ribs, head, neck and elbow plus I have road rash on my elbow and shins. DS cried for only 30 seconds or so then was fine. Luckily DH was home so I had to call the house with my cell phone and have DH come out to get us. I didn't want to take DS back out last night but this morning I am going to the Dr.  My ribs hurt so much that it hurts to breathe :( I am just glad that DS is OK!! I kept crying mostly because I was freaked out about DS.

ETA: Thanks everyone for the well wishes! The Dr. had a lot of x-rays done and I do not have any fractured or broken bones; I just have bruised ribs and elbow and a pulled neck muscle. I am glad to hear this as I should be back to normal a lot sooner that I would if anything was broken. I have an extra strength prescription for hydrocodone so I will probably be conked out on the sofa the rest of the day.

Chunstad, thanks again! Unfortunately, the kitty hasn't come home. We have talked to all of our neighbors and asked them to check their sheds and garages. No one has seen the cat either. I pretty much agree with everyone now that he probably passed away somewhere. It is going to be more upsetting when we get rid of his things.

Gosh, this has been a sh*tty week! So glad it is over! :)

  • Smit!  I'm so sorry that this happened, this is always my worst fear.  It looks like your Mommy instincts kicked in to protect DS, but at the detriment of your ribs.  I hope that you didn't break one.  WTF was that brick doing there, anyways?! Also, any update on your kitty?
