Do you remember any favorites? When I was really young (3-4-5 probably), I remember playing for hours with a plastic Fisher Price record player. I had an entire spindle (think large spindle of blank CDs, for example) of records, 45s, that were all mine. It was glorious, and totally decadent that I had so many, considering how my parents had to pinch pennies. One of my favorite records was "how much is that doggie in the window?".
There are some of those record players for sale on eBay. It made me giggle.
Re: Your favorite toy from childhood?
My favorite was the life-size knitted doll that my mom made for my second birthday. I named her Amanda and took her everywhere. She was pretty great.
My brother got that record player and we both loved it! I remember that they were trying to surprise my bro with it so my dad snuck it inside by crawling through the bedroom window. I think I caught him though and spoiled the surprise!
I have mine too! J doesn't care about it though. He does love my old cash register toy.
My favorite toy was a baby doll that I got for my 2nd birthday. I named him Robbie and he was so realistic looking I confused the pictures of myself in Robbie's outfit with Robbie. Robbie had a lot of adventures frightening people who think that he is real. I honestly feel terrible for the poor house keeper that found him when I accidentally left him at a hotel in Madison WI.
We've been packing our things preparing to move and I tried to pack Robbie away and DD saw him a became enamored with him. She insisted on feeding, burping, and sleeping with him that night. FFC I hid in my closet because I don't think that Robbie can withstand the intense love of another 2 year old. I plan on finding her her own Robbie for her birthday.

I remember that record player!
I LOVED shrinky-dinks. And our sit-n-spin. And spirographs. And my Cabbage Patch kid Sherman, who had carpet head instead of yarn-loop hair. And a recumbent-bike-like three-wheeler that you drove by using handles/brakes on either side of the seat. It was so much fun to spin yourself out on that thing.
Oh, and my little sister had a toy piano that was shaped like Dr Teeth from The Muppets. You opened his mouth and the keys were his teeth. It was awesome.

My sister and I both had Casio keyboards. I played mine all the time. The ILs just gave us dh's old one and J loves it.
I loved my Big Wheel. Also, Teddy Ruxpin, this life sized erector set thing we had to build forts, and digging in the dirt. My brother and I dismembered all of the Barbie dolls I got because I hated dolls. But I did love My Little Ponies. Oddly I still remember the way they smelled.
Ooohhhh SO JEALOUS!!!
I loved my Big Wheel, I would put rocks inside the wheels to make it louder. I'm sure my mom loved that. Also loved My Little Ponies, I had the babies with the little play pens and everything. I played with them instead of Barbie's. I had a Tonka dump truck that I would sit in and ride down the driveway. I had a stuffed Ewok from our Japanese exchange student that I would carry everywhere.
