I am trying to put my baby on a tentative schedule to go to sleep at night and part of the routine will include a bath, I'm wondering if they are to young at 7 weeks to have a bath every night? or how many times a week would be ok?
I don't know what the "norm" is but we give our DS a shower with us daily and our DD had the same. Once the stump came off daily it was, never caused an issue and they both love the bath/shower.

I give my daughter one 3 times a week but she loves it so if she's having a rough night we use it even if it's not a bath night for her. We just won't use soap on every night.
We have been giving our LO a bath every night since she was 3 weeks old. It just helps with her routine. We lotion her too every morning and night to make sure she doesn't ever have dry skin from the bathing.

You can do bath every night if you're trying to get a routine down. If it seems like her skin and/or scalp are getting dry try every other night w/ soap. The inbetween nights just let her sit in the water.

The hospital said 2 to 3 times a week. Their skin is so sensitive, I'd be worried about her skin drying out if we gave her a bath daily. DD2 is 3.5 and has such sensitive skin, we do bath time every other day, and sometimes every 3 days in the winter when her skin is really dry.
We've been giving our DD a bath every night for almost a month now as the beginning of our bedtime routine. (She's 10 weeks old). We were doing it 3 times a week, but noticed it calmed her down during the witching hours, so we continued doing it every night just to give our ears a break from her fussing/crying.
My DS is almost 3 weeks old, we started bathing him as soon as the umb cord fell off. He gets a bath, lotion (morning and night), food, poop, lights dimmed in house, story and then down for bed all starting around 6:30p. He is still feeding every 2-3 hours but we wanted to start the ritual early so we can get it down too.
I don't know if it wouldn't be OK but I don't see the need for a bath every night - why not start a routine after bath time...maybe with some tummy time, story time and sing the same song or two?
i just had this talk with my pedi today. She said that LO only need a bath 2x a week BUT if your LO enjoys it and doesn't show signs of dry or irritated skin then its perfectly fine to do it daily

This is exactly what we do! It has worked like a charm!

It depends if your LO has sensitive skin that dries out easily. I would start with every other night and see how that goes. If your LO tolerates it after a week or so I'd maybe try a bath every night, but only use soap every other day. That's how we do it (I like baths for a routine and to calm her down too, plus she has reflux and is covered in spit-up by the end of the day... I think it really helps). Keep the baths super short if you're going to do them every night.
