Toddlers: 24 Months+

fever with no other symptoms

DD has had a fever with no other symptoms twice in the past few weeks. The first time, it got up to 105 and I took her to the Dr., but by the time we got to the Dr. it had gone away and she was acting fine. He didn't see anything else wrong with her.

The second time it only got up to 101, and she laid around all day and then it went away.

Is it odd to have this happen twice in a few weeks time? I'm worried she may have something internal going on b/c a fever is a sign of infection.

Re: fever with no other symptoms

  • I would definitely push it. I would take her back to the pediatrician and ask them to run blood work. It might be nothing, but it might be something. I'd personally rather be safe then sorry, especially with it getting at high as 105.

  • I think its okay. Just pay attention for other symptoms. Sometimes kids can get fevers for simple things like teeth coming in or being backed up. I would be more concerned if there are more symptoms that come up or if it happens for a month.

  • I thought I read somewhere that if they have a fever with no other symptoms it could possibly be a UTI...

    That was my thought.

  • Ditto pps. Fever without any other symptoms is a sign of a UTI. Call your pedi and request a urine culture.
