The other night I noticed that my headlight was out. DH is deployed and would normally take care of this for me. I thought that I would just have BIL help me with it, but decided to give it a try myself and I did it! For the very first time in my life I fixed something on my car with no help at all! I am ridiculously excited about this!

Good job! I love doing that kind of stuff on my car. Sometimes, I seriously think it would be fun to go to school to learn to be a mechanic. Basically just so I could fix my own cars.

Good for you! My H always tells me that my dad failed me. My dad taught me when something breaks you call someone to fix it. My H is Mr. Fix-It so he tries teaching me things that I need to know, so I'm getting better but he's usually there to guide me.

Good for you! My H always tells me that my dad failed me. My dad taught me when something breaks you call someone to fix it. My H is Mr. Fix-It so he tries teaching me things that I need to know, so I'm getting better but he's usually there to guide me.

Mine was the polar opposite!! haha when I turned 16 the only way he'd allow me to get my license was if I could change a tire, check and change my oil, change my spark plugs, windshield wipers, and all the belts. I'm soooo glad I know these things! It's the same way with house stuff, whenever he'd fix things he would call me over to watch! I think sometimes DH wishes I was a little more helpless so he could be the fix it man but at least he doesn't worry when he has to go out of town for work for weeks

That's awesome! If we have a daughter that is how DH will be with them. He talks about it all the time and is appalled that my dad is the way he is.
