Hi, my name is Kari and my DD is Helen (family name that I love). She was born on 3/28, one day before her due date. I've been "lurking" I guess since I found out I was pregnant, but this past year I've been so busy with work and farming (live on a farm and my DH farms full-time, but I also have a full-time job off the farm about 40 miles away), not to mention with Helen, that I haven't been able to keep up very well and while I'm at work I can't post. So the problem I run into is that I need to go days or even a week back to catch up on posts and while I might have something to contribute or ask, it's already old news for most of you so I usually don't bother
I did post a question onto the carseat recommendation thread from a few days ago asking for measurements, but I don't know that anyone even saw it (please read if you have a Recaro ProRide or the Evenflo Symphony 65 e3). BUT, I love you ladies and have really benefitted from this board!
Background and summary: I'm originally from Chicago, but now live on a farm in SW Michigan. We're certified organic and have primarily orchards, but grew a lot of vegetables this past season. DH & I have been together for over 6 years, married since March of 2011. I turned 31 on March 31st this year, three days after Helen was born, also a March baby! Went natural and EBF for 6 months (I think I'm almost dried up). Helen got 2 teeth when she was 3 and a half months old, yikes! She's now teething again. She can sit by herself but not crawling yet. She sleeps 10-12 hrs a night and is a super good eater and all around happy baby. She's rather long (taking after her 6'5" dad) and has almost outgrown her carrier seat. Helen surprised all of us by having red hair although neither her father nor I do (but it's on both sides); it looks good on her. We've chosen to cloth diaper since she was 5 days old and LOVE it. That's the other board (cloth diapering) that I look at and actually post more on. She goes to an in-home licensed day care 4 days a week. That's about all I can think of right now! Sorry I haven't been a big contributor, but thanks for all of your contributions
If you have any questions, ask away!!
Re: Intro - KariK81
Hi Kari!
We cloth diaper too but do some disposable like a night or if we are gone all day. Or I'm being lazy. lol. I actually keep meaning to go over to the CD board to ask a question but I always forget. lol.
My family (cousins, uncles, grandmother, etc. not parents) owns a dairy farm. Most of the family, myself included, have worked there off and on over the years. My parents have branched out from that and are doing a small variety of animals and a ton of veggies. They can't be certified organic due to being too close to land they have no control over. But they do all natural. Not selling much right now. More for just them but they sell some of their veggies, eggs, etc. Still getting it off the ground.

Yay! Glad you are here!
It is so silly, but I was so excited about the farmer thing. My husband, my dad and I own a horse ranch in Northern CA together. We board, offer trail rides and lessons. I know it is not the same at all, but the hours, work load, always on call and can't get away much sure are.
I lurked my whole pregnancy, but started to post after the mass exodus.
I love the name Helen.
Hi! Welcome (although I guess you really aren't new here, haha)
I think it's so neat that you run an organic farm.... I know it's challenging work, but I really admire those who choose to do it.
We're cloth diapering too, and I'm so glad that's the choice we made. Is Helen's (love the name) day care ok with it? We just got DD a bunch of Kawaii's and I adore them... especially the overnight ones - they work wonders!
See you around!
Hi Kari I have a Recaro Proride. The recline position is adjustable so length changes with position. It also sits high. I'll post the measurement.
Fully reclined 31.5 inches height 25 inches
