Amazon Mom vs Diapers.com vs. Sam's club

I am debating whether it is worth getting the membership to Amazon Prime to get the 20% discount on diapers and wipes or get diapers/wipes from Diapers.com or to get from Sam's club.

Can anyone give me any recommendations?

Thanks

Re: Amazon Mom vs Diapers.com vs. Sam's club

  • I'm going with CDs and wipes, so I don't know about the diapers discount BUT... I have Amazon Prime, and have had it for a year and a half now, and I'm wondering why I didn't get a membership sooner.

The two-day shipping for Prime, in my experience, is really a worst case scenario. Depending what time of day that I order from Amazon (it's usually the morning) I get it the next day. At the very least, it's ALWAYS within 2 day shipping timeframe.

    Love Amazon Prime.

  • We'll diapers.com gives you 5% back, amazon gives you 20% back but you have to pay for the membership and sams club is about the same price as amazon with the discount. Here's what I do.. I am a rewards member at babiesrus, every 9 boxes of diapers gets me 1 free. I use that and I also get a free BJ's membership (good for 1 month and you can apply every 2 months) to buy diapers there and they're about the same price as Sams club. I also shop for good deals. IE; I found huggies jean diapers 1/2 off last fall. Usually $20 a pack for $10. I bought all they had, (5 boxes in size 3) lol. Go to huggies.com and pampers.com get coupons. So that's what I do anyway.

  • We have a membership to both Sam's and Amazon, both $40 (because of DH we have the Amazon Prime Student membership).  Diapers are cheaper through Amazon.  If you have to get the full priced Amazon membership, it might not be worth it to you because it is twice that of a regular Sam's membership.  And diapers are only a few cents cheaper through Amazon.  Unless you end up ordering a lot from Amazon.

  • I second Amazon Prime.  I am set up to have the diapers and wipes delivered on a schedule- it is perfect for me.  It is also great to have for non-diaper items that you might need in a pinch.

When I was on maternity leave, I wasn't always sure if I would be able to make it out to the store that day- so the two day (max) delivery came in very handy.  Now that I'm back at work, I hate wasting my time in a store on the way home, I just want to get home to my family, so the two day delivery is again key.

It does include a bunch of free streaming video content if you or DH has any interest it that.

  • I think that my Amazon Prime membership is slightly cheaper because I'm a student BUT.... don't they also have an Amazon Mom membership that essentially works the same as Amazon Prime, but only on baby items? If I remember correctly, it's cheaper than the full price of the Prime membership, and better if you only intend to use Amazon for baby related items.

  • When Amazon mom had the larger discount (used to be 30%) it was always worth it for us to get those over anything. When the discount went down, it was slightly cheaper per diap to do Target's brand (buying online in bulk), but even though we liked the Target diapers when we tried them when DS was an infant, we weren't crazy about them when he was a toddler, so we stuck with Amazon/Pampers.
  • I've done a comparison on $/diaper basis at my local Sams Club and Costco as well as BRU and have noticed that both Sams and Amazon are competitive in price before I calculate the cost of the Prime Membership. But, as much as I hate BRU, they have a lot of perks when it comes to buying diapers. First off, they have a 'Buy 9 cases get 1 Free' program, they are always offering giftcards when you purchase two boxes, or $8-10/off a case, plus they accept manufacturers coupons. And now they have the VIB (very important baby... lame) card where you load money onto it like a giftcard, and then BRU will automatically give you an extra 10%. So, even with the regular price of the diapers, factoring in the buy 9 get 1 free and the extra 10% it's cheaper (in my area) to go with BRU. The promo giftcards and extra coupons are a bonus.

  • I signed up for Amazon Mom w/o getting the Prime membership. I think it's still a 15% discount, but it's been awhile since I've done the research. I love having the diapers shipped to my door!

"Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?...But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own." Matthew 6:26-27&33-34
  • We've been Amazon Prime members for a year (so haven't even bought diapers yet) and looooove it. The convenience of free 2-day delivery is so nice, not to mention the prices. Just the other day I noticed that the PUR water filter was going slow, ordered a new one (cheaper than at Wal-mart) and it just arrived. Noticed today I am almost out of pre-natals, more will arrive Friday. Paid an extra $4 to have a birthday gift delivered the next day (only $4) I am so excited to have diapers delivered!!

If you follow babycheapskate.com, she posts diaper deals every Sunday--both in store and online. So check out those posts and start comparing. Yesterday or today she posted that with a coupon you could get diapers at 10 cents each (normal sale price is twice that, I think) on Amazon.

Plus, you then get to watch movie/TV free with Amazon Prime (which may come in handy if this one doesn't sleep through the night for the first year like my others) and I have a Kindle, so the free book rental each month comes in handy.

  • How much is the Amazon Prime membership?

We use Sam's Club right now. They just started carrying Luvs, so we pay 20 cents/diaper. I never looked into the other options. We buy a lot of our groceries (milk, eggs, produce, bread, cheese, coffee) at Sam's Club, so we're there every few weeks anyway.

I think we're going to use cloth diapers this time since I'll mostly be a SAHM.

  • I use Amazon prime but am interested to really know which is cheaper. I do LOVE that they come right to our door and I don't have to order them (obviously not only an Amazon thing but I like this!!)

    Amazon 1 47.19 276 0.1710
Amazon Prime (Mom) 1 37.75 276 0.1658 When figure in Membership $80 dollars
    Diapers.com 1 47.49 276 0.1721 When figure in 5% back
Babies R Us 1 45.99 246 0.1514 When figure in 10% from VIB and 10th value pack of diapers free; however cost to ship to house

  • We have a membership to Amazon Prime and Sam's; however we buy diapers from Amazon because Sam's doesn't always carry the ones we prefer to buy.  Also, I have found that when using mfg coupons in conjunction with Target coupons you can sometimes buy diapers at Target for the same price as Amazon.
