But sometimes she just annoys me. So tomorrow is my birthday and I go back to work next week, so I planned a shopping trip for me and dd for today weeks ago - first time I was truly going shopping for myself since before my ds who is 21 months. I was talking to my MIL last week and she said she wanted to take me to lunch to celebrate either today or on my birthday and I mistakenly told her I couldn't today because I was going shopping. She asked if I was taking dd, and I said of course. Then she invited herself on my shopping trip b/c of course I wouldn't be able to handle shopping with my dd on my own and i didn't know how to unincite her (she does an awful lot of free babysitting for us). It was just an awkward day - didn't leave as early as I wanted, didn't go to as many stores as I wanted b/c we were walking too much and she was tired and left early (although still an hour after I guess she was hoping for). And halfway through she made the comment, "I guess you didn't need my help w/ dd". I guess one positive, I probably spent less money than I would have if she was there.
