First Week at Daycare Question

My son started daycare Monday and since then he constantly cries from the time we get home til just about bedtime. The only time he isn't crying is during a feeding or sometimes when we walk with him but that doesn't always work. The daycare says that he is great during the day and no crying. Has anyone else experienced this? Why does he do this? What can we do? TIA

Re: First Week at Daycare Question

  • How much is he sleeping at day care?  He might be overtired by evening.  My DS fights naps when he is in a different place.  He can be really crabby when he doesn't get enough sleep.

The only other thing I can think of is to try gas drops or gripe water.  My DS tends to be gassier in the evenings, which can also make him crabby.

  • I agree with PP.  Check how much he napped. Usually it will take a while for them to get used to napping at daycare.  Also, in my experience, little as it is, that time of day (early evening hours) are fussiest time for babies.
  • I remember that happened the first week I was back to work too.  I don't know what caused it unless it was just the drastic change in his routine but it only lasted a few days or that week and then it was over.

  • Like PP"s sounds like he is overtired. L doesn't sleep well at daycare so as soon as we get home it's nap time.
