Yes, we hit a huge resale event a few weeks ago. Tried to find mainly gender neutral stuff but found it pretty hard. We did manage to find some cute onesies. One said: Daddy's Little Alarm Clock; Another said: I Have Daddy Wrapped Around My Finger. We also collect crosses and we happened to find a cross with Noah's Ark theme so after the baby is born we will hang it with the rest. This is my second child but my husband's first so when he saw those cute onesies and got teary-eyed I just had to get them.

Aw, that is too cute! I might just have to make a couple onesies with those sayings!

Cribs should never be purchased used, it's a huge safety risk.

my church had a craft sale with proceeds going to a homeless initiative....I bought two flannel swaddling blankets. One's a modern spin on a vintage print and the other is stars. I love them both!
My parents went to NY City last week and bought the baby his/her first teddy bear from FAO. I thought it was super sweet since I didn't get my first teddy until I was 6.
Every time I go to the store I always go to the baby section but I never end up buying anything, I just look. I'm pretty sure I will wait to buy any clothes until I find out the baby's gender.

I purchased a carseat on Saturday at a garage sale. It is 2 years old, NEVER USED, gender neutral, and the best part: it cost $15!!! There was no way I cold pass it up! Today I got a diaper that was on sale for $10 instead of $25. It is super cute and looks more like a purse.

Really? Hmmm, Never heard that before....only to look out for recalls, missing parts, no drop sides, mattress condition which I'll probably end up buying new for cleanliness anyway? I'm confident in my purchase along w/the stores strict resale standards that meet the new June 2011 "rules" for cribs this make and model can still be purchased online. But thanks for looking out good reminder for everyone.

yes... my daughter and I were out running errands and came across a garage sale a few weeks ago. I saw baby things so I HAD to stop. I ended up buying a few things. I got one of those things they can jump in that have the toys all around it (not an exersaucer) for $25, a play mat that has the toys that hang on the arches that go over it for $10 and a baby bath tub with the infant net for $5 I also found a few onsies for 50 cents and a pair of gender nuetral jeans for $1
We bought a little Reds onesie and matching socks for the baby because my SO is a huge Reds fan. It got him more excited for the baby, and it was super cute. While doggy sitting our friends puppy, we came home one evening to find out he had escaped his kennel and pulled it off the table. It now has 3 holes in it. HUGE sad face!!
We have a baby swing DS used, that I convinced DH wasn't taking up that much space in our small one bedroom. Once we took it apart it's under his crib some and in random places lol. We also have a bouncy chair thing in our closet... and we've kept all DS's clothes. Which are in bags and boxes; we'll use some of the neutral stuff if we have a girl.

I voted no and then I remembered my sister sent her nice carrier she used for my nephew. It hasn't arrived yet though which is why I didn't remember. And my best friend brought her baby's crib and carseat to my moms they are both in Florida and I'm in NYC so I have things when I go home.
I couldn't resist Kohls' extra 15% off already marked down clearance. I got an adorable 4th of July T-shirt with a puppy waving the flag embroidered on it that's very gender neutral for $2.00!
I was really trying to wait until after 13 weeks, but I had a credit on Hautelook.com for a few things I had returned and they had these really cute plush ride on toys that play music. Had to buy it.
Since this is baby #2, we have the "big stuff" from DS (nursery furniture, carseat, bouncer, swing, high chair) but we did purchase size 1 diapers that were on sale.
Newborn cloth diapers. Whenever I see them for a good price, I grab them. We waited until DD fit into OS.
Ummmm this is genius! Seriously, how did I not even think of this?! Where do you usually find deals? Do you use amazonmom?
I agree that this is genius! Please share your knowledge!!!
I was given ALOT of stuff already (yay!). I have about 3 boxes full of baby stuff... I still need more of course, but I am waiting til we move in February to go through the boxes and decide what else I need to buy.
I was so excited to find out that I had to buy a few gender neutral things. I didn't find too many really cute things so I figured it would be better to wait til I know the gender to go crazy on baby stuff.

Only one thing - I made a customized bib on zazzle.com. I put Baby <our last name> at the top and found a black outline of the Chicago skyline to put in the bottom.

Personally I think as long as you're careful about the things you mentioned plus diligent about checking recalls, you're probably ok. Can't imagine every single person who has had a child has had a brand new crib. Plus, what about those that reuse cribs when they have 2nd or 3rd children?
That's completely different, you would know if the crib you own has been recalled. Presumably you would know to keep track of all the parts and would know what sort of abuse it's been through.

This will be baby #3 for us so we don't realy need any big ticket items. We plan on getting a new stroller car seat travel system since we had a sit in stand for our boys. We have no need for a sit and stand now. We will also get a swing and a new bouncy seat. But I am waiting to find out the sex. I am so praying for a little girl. I've seen the cutest little onesie w/ a tutu and it says my mommy luvs me that I'm hoping I'll get to buy to tell my mom she finally gets a granddauaghter.
Although I want to be positive about this pregnancy after going through a loss I can not buy anything until I am out of my 1st tri. I just want to make sure that everything is everything before I shop.
I too took advantage of a Kohl's sale and had one of those rare 30% of so I used it to buy one of their 4 in 1 cribs. It's still sitting in the box in the garage until we get all my DS stuff moved out of his old room and get the room ready for the nursery.
