Chicco coming out with new Convertible car seat!

Chicco NextFit Convertible Car Seat. Chicco upended the infant car seat market with its KeyFit 30, and I am elated by the innovation of the new NextFit Convertible. For starters, there's a really cool new LATCH system with integrated pulleys that significantly reduces the effort required to tighten the install. And?get this?the seat has a whopping nine recline positions, meaning it'll fit into the contour of whatever seat you're dealing with. The NextFit is suitable from 5 to 65 pounds and has a rear-facing weight limit of 40 pounds; its height capacity is a bit more generous than other seats as well. Clever bonus: the harness width expands to accommodate wider shoulders as your child grows. The Chicco NextFit retails for $279-$299 and launches in Spring 2013.

You would be better off asking on car-seat.org. The techs may have had a sneak peek.
  • Man- I would take the Graco Size4Me off my registry in a heartbeat if this was available now....

The techs there are amazing :) but there's also a review on carseatblog.com with some measurements that might help you.  GL!

You should take it off anyways if you plan on using an infant seat first.  It is not a good idea to register for a convertible car seat now.  Car seats have an expiration date of about 6-7 years after manufacture date (depending on the car seat brand) and it wouldn't be smart to just let it sit around for 6-12 months without getting any use out of it.

  • I think my LO will need a convertible before this becomes available... So sad, I love my chicco keyfit!
  • I am not in the market for one, but it looks great! I hope the folks at car-seat.org get to review it soon.

  • Hmmm, this looks pretty great. We were thinking of getting the Clek Foonf in December but we might hold off until we can compare the two. DD is petite so she should be fine in her infant seat for a while, I am just tired of dealing with it (it's a pain to get her in and out of it when it's installed in the car and she won't tolerate it unless in the car so I wear her when out).

I already have Chicco KeyFit 30, I've been buying a good majority of everything since this is #2 but when we found out we were having a boy now my family and work want to throw me a shower (#1 is a girl). DD grew out of her infant seat by 9 months and I figured it wouldn't hurt to have one waiting then have to go out and buy a convertible seat at Christmas time next year when we're busy buying presents.
