  • I agree! What can we talk about? :)
  • I guess I'll start things off.  Let's provide intros and go from there.

I'm a 39 y.o., native New Orleanian and mom of 1, living uptown.  DD is almost 5 months old, and we are hoping to give her a sibling next year before time runs out for us to do so.  I work full time and DH is in grad school full time, as well as the primary caregiver for DD (with a little help from the grandparents when he is in classes).

  • lol.  great!  Sounds like you all have your hands full!

Well I am 35, native New Orleanian myself, but now live in Kenner...boooo!!! :(

Have a DS about to turn 13.  Recently married, 8/27/11 and my DH and I are 8 weeks prego!  This is his first so he is smitten!  DH is a Pharmacist and we own a Planet Beach Contempo Spa in River Ridge...which is where I spend most of my time!

I desire much to move back to New Orleans!!!! My DH is scared!

  • Hi, I am 28 years old and in LSU anesthesia school graduating in May!!! Although my husband and I are not originally from Nola, we live in Lakeview and love it! We are a little over 17 weeks preggars, and this is our 1st...super excited and super nervous as we both lead very busy lives! He is in LSU Surgery Residency program. I am currently looking at baby cribs...any suggestions on where to look?

I work for LSUHSC, so I'm downtown as well during the day!

As far as cribs go, I personally decided not to get a convertible crib, since we might want to put two twin beds in DD room later and would not want to have to buy another crib for them to match.  We decided we'll buy a nice bedroom set later, but for now, she doesn't need all that.  After much research, and after falling in love with some pretty pricey cribs, we ultimately decided it was money better spent on things she'll be using for more than just a couple of years, and it's not like she'll care if it's $100 or $1000.

DH decided he wanted a crib with spindles, and I found this one, which came highly recommended: https://www.amazon.com/Davinci-Jenny-Lind-Stationary-White/dp/B002T1HH1I/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1351168386&sr=8-1&keywords=jenny+lind+crib

Don't let the price scare you, it's a great crib, and so far we are very pleased with it, have absolutely no complaints.  DH was able to put it together very easily.  Of course you need to find a style that you like.

One other thing: if you haven't already, I highly recommend purchasing this book: https://www.amazon.com/Baby-Bargains-Secrets-furniture-maternity/dp/1889392405/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1351168496&sr=1-1&keywords=baby+bargains

It was a lifesaver.  It helps you figure out where to save money and where to splurge.  It helped me feel like I made good choices for things like car seats and strollers, which are big ticket items.
