Bra shopping for DDD and larger (NBR)

My little sister is only 14 and already a triple D according to my mom's measurements. I'm a D and she's much larger so I would say she's at least that big. She's is literally busting out of her swimsuit tops and bras. I'm so frustrated with my mom for not shopping for appropriate clothing that supports her properly. She shops online but seeing as my mom is only a B at best, she has no idea what she's doing and I'm tired of seeing my little sister boobs.

Can someone point me in the direction of where they should be shopping?

Re: Bra shopping for DDD and larger (NBR)

  • I love figleaves.com. They have bra sized swimsuits, sports bras, regular bras. Online shopping is her best bet!

  • I've always been happy with my Lane Bryant bras.  They have sales a lot, too, so you can usually get a BOGO or something else pretty good.

  • Do you have a Nordstroms anywhere near you? They can properly measure her and fit her. It is so so worth a trip.

Lane Bryant will also measure and fit her with bras. I'd for sure have her go to a professional for an accurate measurement.

  • As someone who went from a 32DD to a 32 G during this pregnancy... I feel you wanting your sister to have good support... You need it with these girls ;... I generally wear Wacoal, Chantelle, or Simone Perele brand bras... They fit great, love them. They can get a bit expensive but good news is Dillard's usually has the wacoals and chantelles in their clearance bins... I just got one yesterday for 20 bucks, and they had several in my size all diff styles. I also go to Neimans and Nordstroms. These stores lingerie departments are so attentive and will get her what she needs! Hope that helps!
  • Thank you so much everyone! These are great suggestions! I am going to push for her to go get perfessionally measured even if it means me taking her shopping. I'm also going to pass on all the suggestions on where to shop. And yes, we have several Nordstroms so that's a great suggestion!

I kid you not, my mom and I actually got into an argument a couple of weeks ago because she was sure that my sister couldn't be over a C cup. I'm usually not involved at all in what my sister wears, I know I'm not her mother, but she seriously needs some proper help. We went to the coast together a couple of weeks ago and my sister told me that none of her swimwear has any kind of padding what so ever and she's never even tried on anything with an underwire because my mom says they're uncomfortable. If only there was a "what not to wear, undergarments edition"!

  • Poor girl. I know what that's like! I recently found one style at Vanity Fair that comes only up to G (DDD is F) But Nordstroms has them at least up to H. After that, I think the best thing is online, but personally, I don't like online because I want to try it on before I buy something. Nordstroms has alot of options, but they are expensive.

  • I would suggest getting measured at nordstroms.  i've always purchased my bras from barenecessities.com.  Even at 40H they have my size :-)

  • another vote for nordstrom! They are the best around. In the larger sizes, you really need a proper fitting, and they will cost $ but it is money well spent. They will be $$ anywhere though tbh.

You are a good sister! I will say that getting a good bra will help her back feel better, it will help her posture, and it will mkae clothes fit better. Once I got in a good bra (I was in a B and needed an D :X) I looked THINNER too. She wont look as inapproproate in regular clothes too.
