I am thinking wearing DS might make my life easier but I'm not sure how necessary this is and what carrier is best. I was looking into the baby k'tan. It has good reviews on amazon and much cheaper than here in Canada. Any ideas?
For a newborn I don't know... I got the Ergo when DS was 4 months old and LOVE LOVE LOVE it. They have the infant insert I'll buy and try with our next child. I thought it wasn't a necessity to have one and caved at 4 months. I wish I had one sooner.

As a newborn my DD wanted to be held all the time so having a carrier was a blessing. We had the moby wrap but I wasn't really a fan so after doing a little more research I bought a Beco Gemini. I love my Beco and I still use it with DD. I opted for the Beco because of the forward facing option. DD has always liked to be held so that she faces forward so that was important for me to find a carrier with that option. Some people say you shouldn't wear your baby forward facing but I think you need to know your child and their preferences too.
I LOVE my Baby k'tan! It is just like the Moby, but much easier to put on. It is great for newborns because they can snuggle right in the carrier. There are lots of different holds too. I actually prefer it over my Ergo!
I have a Beco Butterfly II and a K'Tan. I only use the K'Tan right now and LOVE it. DD gets fussy very quickly when in her carseat and it's difficult to calm her in it. Pop her in the K'Tan and she will let me do a long grocery or Target shop without a peep (and she's a very fussy baby...reflux and slightly colicky). We've used the Beco a bit but she hates having her legs folded but isn't quite big enough to use it without the infant setting thing so I haven't pulled it out in a while. She is still quite small so the K'Tan is just easier right now.

This. I wasn't sure if Aria or I would like baby wearing, so I just bought a $15 Infantino carrier at Walmart. As it turns out, we both LOVE baby wearing. Aria even prefers to be worn over riding in the stroller!
The Infantino worked great until a couple of months ago... and then it really started taking a toll on my back. My hubs bought me an Ergo to replace it, and I ADORE it! It's so easy to use and comfortable to wear. Aria seems to like it a lot too. I'd definitely recommend it!
I've done a lot of research on carriers, and for the most part, people love their K'tan. Most moms also love the Moby, but both are widely received by many.
Both wrap carriers are great for smaller babies, but when they hit about 20 pounds, having a more structured pack will save your back a ton. That's when people start to really appreciate an Ergo or a Beco (both the Butterfly II and the Gemini).
They are a ton of options for carriers, wraps, ring slings, structured, etc., and the Attachment Parenting board has a lot of different ones you can then go research, but, in my experience, the ones mentioned around here most are the K'tan, Moby, Ergo and Beco (or the Bjorn, but they are not the best carriers).

The Moby wrap is wonderful for when LO is tiny, and for when you want to get some things done around the house while wearing him/her.
I love my Ergo. I use it almost every time I'm out of the house with my LO - except when I know I'll be trying on clothes.
