Leaving lo for a day

Dh and I have had plans to go to the giants/steelers game for quit some time now. My dh is so excited about it and I do want to go, but we will be gone for the whole day with the traveling and game time. Lo will be 7 weeks old and my mom will watch her but I can't help but feel like a horrible mom for leaving her this young for a whole day. Would you leave your lo that young? Would I be horrible for going?

    I don't think you would be horrible at all!  Be thankful you have someone like your mom to watch your LO.  I'm sure she is going to be thrilled to spend the day with her grandchild and you get some much needed alone time with the hubby.  You are not a horrible mom!  You need to have some time away too!  We all do.  Having a newborn is tough enough.  Go and have fun!

    You are not terrible at all!! Go to the game. It's good to get out sometimes. Also you are leaving the baby with someone who loves them and will take good care of them. I completely understand how you feel but you will be fine once you get to the game and have some fun!!

    Ditto all PP. I had to leave my LO for a night and a day when I got my gallbladder taken out, and he was only 2 or 3 weeks old. Yours will be fine, and you will probably do better with the time off. Enjoy yourself, give yourself permission to miss your LO, and think how wonderful it will be for both of you when you come back relaxed and renewed. :)

    I don't think you're horrible at all. However, I'm not sure I'd be able to leave my LO. (Though this is coming from a woman who turned down a free cruise because she didn't want to leave her 6 month old for a few days with MIL, I'd miss her wayyy too much to enjoy myself) Do what's right for you.

    It's a balance between being there for LO but also making you happy, that makes you a better mom anyway.
