Embrodery

Whooooosaaaaaa.....?

What do you use to calm your self down?

During the last couple of weeks my bloodpreasure  have been really high. I've been dehydrated, demotivated, stressed and unhappy. My mind has been on overload, and I think if I could I would need a reboot and possibly a reinstall of my original software. So this monday we just started our midterm-project. My fellow groupmates did, and I am not exaggerating, not know ANYTHING about the content of our assignment. - Which meant that a 4-day project for 3-4 students fell on my already overburden shoulders. The teacher asked in advanced if I were sure that I wanted to be in that group (two "left-over" students) (I am a "between confident and arrogant" kind of student), and I said yes - because I don't like to see people who don't get picked. (To my defence, they have been to class and supposedly done their homework, or given the impression that they have. So I just thougth they didn't get picked cuz they are wierd) - So I said YES, I am sure I want to be in group with these two (out loud, to create group confidence). DEATHPALM on myself! They don't meet up to the agreed meetings, do agreed homework or anything and they don't participate when they actually meet up. (I talked to the teacher, and she said we'll take it after the assignment). So now my head is falling of my shoulders and I just want to lay down and die.

On my way home on monday I droped by a grocerystore and I saw some easy embordery for a couple of dollars, so I bougth it. My mind is in such ease when I sew now. All I think about is the tread and how it just fits into place! Just thinking about it calms me down... What calm you down?

(Sorry for half tip/question and half vent)

Re: Embrodery

  • Sorry about your school project.

I don't have a good relaxing hobby (unless drinking wine counts), but I use cross *** puzzles (also called Kakuro) to calm my racing brain when I have trouble sleeping.

They're like crossword puzzles, but you use the numbers 1-9 to add up to totals in each row and column entry.  You can only use a number once in each entry.  For example, a 2-space row may have a total of 3.  The only group of two unique numbers that add up to three is 1,2, but you have to figure out if the sequence is 1,2 or 2,1.  That's a bad explanation, but you can find some online ones here https://www.conceptispuzzles.com/index.aspx?uri=puzzle/kakuro

Focusing the math logic helps me order my thoughts and stop thinking about whatever's stressing me.

  • Omg you sound so stressed! I'm so sorry!

I guess when I'm super stressed out I write in my journal. I used to go shopping but thats hard on my wallet lol.
  • That sucks that your group mates aren't helpful or committed to your work! Can you sit them down and have a talk with them? Or maybe talk to your teacher and explain to him/her the division of your responsibilities so that they know if you've done YOUR share of the work?

My relaxation is trashy novels. Currently I'm re-reading the Twilight series in anticipation of the final movie. I can get totally lost in books. :)

  • What a pisser about the other people in your group.  I'd be PO'ed.

When I'm stressed, I either go for a fast walk, read, or knit. . . . . though since G arrived, I've hardly picked up the knitting needles, so maybe I can't count that as a stress-buster at the moment.

  • Well, we presented the assignment for our class today (with our teacher), and every group got constructive criticism and a point in the right direction - none got a specific comment, until she came to our group. She gave one of my group mates a really BBQ ;) and the other one got twisted as well, I got the comment "Cathrine, you just kick ass!"

So I guess it was worth it, and my motivation is that she keeps reminding me of the scholarship she is handing out after each term. (Crossing fingers that it's MINE)
