DD has really bad gas, and I'm not sure if its just her learning to use her tummy to fart and poop or if we need to switch to gentlease or add mylicon drops.
It's been a while, so take this with a grain of salt, but 7 years ago with DS1 we switched formulas 2 or 3 times before we found one that worked. The Pedi always told us to give a new formula 4-5 days before we decided it wasn't going to work.
As far as tummies maturing and working exactly like they are supposed to...I was just reading that that could take up to 13 weeks after birth. Baby's digestive system just needs a while to figure out what it's doing & start getting the "good bacteria" colonies growing.
L had bad gas and is MSPI so it was pretty bad at one point. I was doing the colic massage on her until around 3-4 months. Now I do it if I notice her pushing a lot or seems uncomfortable. Now we are starting solids and her belly is not handling so great.
My sons pedi switched him to gentlease when he was 3 weeks old and it took 4 weeks or so for his tummy to adjust to it. He was VERRRRYYY gassy! I seriously tried everything to help him: Gas drops (in every bottle by the way), gripe water, Colic Calm, swaddle tightly, car ride, lay him on his tummy and rub his back, olive oil on the tummy, warm baths and moving his legs around like he's riding a bike!!! Colic Calm works WONDERS!!!!! It's kinda pricey but it's so worth buying if your babies gas is that bad!! You can get it at CVS or walgreens! He's 12 weeks today and has NO gas problems (well maybe once a week or so) but he's a happy camper now and farts all day long GOOD LUCK!
