Stupid FTM question (from a STM)

Ok--so I think I'm having some mild contractions.  How can I NOT know?!  I know what BH feel like and I know what real labor feels like and these are somewhere inbetween.  I'm only 32 weeks and have a scheduled rcs for 12/12.  Ugh.  I soooo do not want to go in because I'm worried they'll make me stay.

My house is a wreck, my DD isn't prepared for me to be gone, I haven't shaved in weeks, no bag packed, etc.  Am I being dumb?

I've been laying down and drinking water during the kids naps and it's helping some.

Re: Stupid FTM question (from a STM)

  • I had real contractions for six weeks before I had E. For me I could tell the difference because drinking water and resting didn't help and I'd get a pretty serious Code Brown.

  • How far apart are the contractions?  Is there a nurse hotline you can call?
  • You are doing what my OB always told me to do.....relax and drink some water because sometimes you can get contractions due to dehydration. And maybe relax in a steamy shower while shaving just in case.....haha

    good luck!

  • They're anywhere from 3-12 minutes apart.  And I haven't called the nurse/Dr. because they'd tell me to come in right away and it's just not that easy with a 4 and 1 year old in tow.  I'm trying to arrange somebody to be "on call" this afternoon just in case that could watch my kids.

I know I shouldn't be annoyed, but I really am!

  • I started getting BH at 19 weeks and by 33 weeks I was getting regular contractions daily, nothing would get rid of them. I went to the hospital they couldn't figure it out, they hooked me up to an IV to try to hydrate me and nothing, still contracting away lol. My cervix wasn't changing so they sent me home on bed rest. I had B seven weeks later. They say the second time around you get BH earlier and more noticeable. Well if that is true I am screwed! You my dear may just be amongst those lucky few who have regular contractions for the next 7 weeks! It sucks I know how you feel, but it is so important to get checked out! For you and the baby! Good luck!

My regular contractions started at 28wks. I delivered E at 39 weeks after 11 weeks of bedrest, drugs, hospital visits and constant contractions. I really, really, really hope yours go away. It wasn't fun for me, and I didn't have 2 kiddos to take care of!

  • I really can't handle the idea of being in and out of the hospital with this for the next 7 weeks!  And it does stem from all of the awful complications I had after both of my older kids, but it's making me have anxiety just thinking about it.

I don't know how you girls did it--the weeks and weeks of contractions.  Ugh.  Hoping things chill out this evening and we can all be back to normal tomorrow morning.

  • My ONOB old me to come to her office if they lasted for a long period of time not the hospital unless my water broke or I felt extremely sick or dehydrated She said all the hospital would do was send me home and refer me to her.
  • OB not ONOB obviously.
  • I'm feeling a little better.  My mom will come over if necessary.  Hopefully a restful evening and good night's sleep will do the trick.  Thanks girls.
