TTC After a Loss

Ugh wonky cycle after chemical pregnancy

I had a chemical pregnancy in September. Dr said to count first day of bleeding as cd 1 and my hcg was 4 two days before bleeding began. I am now in cd 34 with no af in sight took hpt this morning just in case and it was a bfn.... My dr said my cycles should definitely be back to normal right after the cp.... but I'm usually a 3031 cycle day girl... So this isn't normal! This frustrates me so much because it's hard to move on when things like this happen. ugh!

  • First of all, I'm so sorry for your losses, and this most recent one.

    It's totally normal to be "unnormal" after a loss, which I'm sure you know.  Most people cycles are wonky after a loss.

    ((HUGS))  I know it's frustrating!

  • I'm sorry this has been so frustrating! Yours would be the first Dr. I've heard of advising a patient that their cycle should be A-OK after a loss.

    Everything else I've heard says a CP is still a miscarriage, your hormones have gone all screwy and it would likely take time for them to return to normal. That may be one or two cycles, or it may be several. Since your doc told you otherwise, I would still give it a few days, and if you're really worried, I'd call about CD40.

    HTH!

    ETA: ((HUGS))!! How could I forget the hugs?!?!? (bad bumpie, bad!)

  • I am so sorry for your losses. I had a CP earlier in September, and my cycle right after my loss was about a week longer than usual. My HCG was 2 the day my bleeding started. I counted that as the first day of the cycle, and then had a 31 day cycle. Normal for me is 25-26 days. So, give yourself a few more weeks. Your body is still trying to figure things out. {hugs}

  • So very sorry for all of your losses.  My 2nd loss was a chemical.  My "normal" cycle is 26-27 days and has always been pretty much clock work.  The one after my CP was 29.  After my 1st loss (after a D&C) my first cycle was 27, my "normal", but the one after that was 21.  As pp have said, don't worry too much about it at this point, it's actually more normal for your cycle to not be "normal" after a loss!

  • So sorry for all your losses. I can't say anything better than PP. Just give it some time. ((hugs))

  • I am so sorry for your loss!  I know how frustrating it can be since you just want to pick up the pieces and move on.  Unfortunately our bodies need some time to adjust.  I had a CP at the end of August and the first cycle was 5 days longer than my "normal", I'm now on my second cycle and it's looking like it will be even longer.

  • ((hugs)) it is totally normal, and I feel your pain. I also had my first loss in September, and I am now on CD 47, no AF yet. My cycles are usually 26 days. I also took a test a while ago, to see if I had HCG that wasn't dropping or something (which I know isn't a great method). But after joining FF and speaking to the nurse at my doctors office, I think that it is just really late ovulation. So hopefully I will be ovulating soon and get back to normal.

  • I think that the first post loss AF is usually the most unpredictable. It can take what seems like forever and things sometimes even back out after a few cycles. I'm sorry that you are dealing with this.  ((hugs))
