In addition to my "Big Baby" post, I was curious to know about others amniotic fluid levels. Like I mentioned, doc said I had a "generous" amount of fluid. Looking over the report, it showed AFI 26.8 cm and maximal vertical pocket 8.7 cm. Just wondering what your opinion is on the levels.
Re: Amniotic fluid level
at my last appoint on Monday, doc said my fluid from the ultrasound on Friday was a bit high at 27 and that baby was large but not too large. he's measuring a week ahead and guestimated to be 7lbs 2oz.
I also had to start my non-stress tests that the doc wants me to do because I'm 35. These also come with a fluid check. The person doing the fluid check seemed to think it was normal yesterday and nothing was measuring above a 4 from what I could tell from the screen.
I really think it's not much to worry about and that the fluid might fluctuate depending on how much fluid you drink. Maybe the day of your ultrasound, you drink a little more then usual? I know I did
. Doc did say they would do another fluid check at some point but not sure if the non-stress test counts for that.
I know my midwife will do an AFI after my NST, but your situation may be different. My fluid levels have consistently measured at 30-31. I was told that 10-20 is normal, 21-25 is a little much, and anything over is excess. I was diagnosed with polyhydramnios due to my fluid levels.
