Hubby called me this morning. He just got laid off because they are eliminating his job. He has been with this company for about 2.5 years. Before that he went through 2 other layoffs with other companies, the first one being a company that he was with for 7 years. They eliminated his job title nationwide. I guess he will apply for unemployment right away and start looking again.
I have to admit, this time I am so scared. The other times he was laid off, I worked 2 jobs and just picked up extra shifts at the second job to make up the difference. When I had the baby, I stopped working the second job. Now I have to support hubby, myself, and a child. It is a big weight on my chest.
I know we will make it through this, but it feels like a punch in the gut right now.

What kind of work does he do? I hope he is able to find something new quickly. Maybe he could at least get a "in the meantime" job to help take some of the pressure off of you and bring in some money.

Thanks! Unfortunately, when you are the last one hired, you are usually the first laid off and in this case someone out in Texas decided that his job wasn't necessary any more. He is a hard worker and motivated to find something else quickly. He doesn't have a degree, but he has years of experience in both payroll and data entry.
It's just been a rough year. He has been battling depression and I worry that this will make it worse. He is in counceling and on meds and we have been working towards making him feel better. Luckily I carry the health insurance for our family, so there is no disruption there...and I think I make enough to cover our basic needs for awhile. We just need to be careful with our pennies so that we hopefully won't have to dip into our savings too much.
Of course we just paid for a cruise in August (for January.) I think I have until November 1 to decide if I want my money back, so I will more than likely get that money back and keep that in savings. And I will look at our bills and see what we can cut back on.
We've been through worse...now we just need to look at this as an opportunity for him to find something better.
