November 2012 Moms

Still working Mammas......

Ok I have just about two actual weeks of work and I'm beyond "on E"..........how much longer do you have till your maternity leave and how are you handling being overly tired? I fell twice last week...stupid gravity and I think my body is telling me to slow down......ugh!!! All I want to do is wash clothes, sanitize bottles/pacifiers, get car seat out and swing but nope! Work is in the way!! I want some relaxation! You?

Re: Still working Mammas......

  • I hear ya!  I'm working 'till the Dr. says I can't or LO decides to come.  I didn't want to take any leave before LO is born.  I am sooo tired by the end of the day, it's ridiculous.  I have all this stuff I want to do for LO's arrival, but it gets put off to the weekend since I'm exhausted at the end of the day.  I'm just trying to put my feet up if possible at work and rest as much as I can at home in the evening.  What I really could use is a pedicure and a massage!

  • Yes I feel the same. I am working until the baby comes. It would be nice to take time off prior but I want to save that time for when baby is here.

  • I'm working from home after this week. I just hope LO comes soon after that starts!!

  • I'm working until the baby comes. I teach 2nd grade, so it's very tiring, plus coming home to a 2 1/2 year old is even harder!

  • I'm done today actually. I work 12 hour shifts as a PA and its been more than tiring in the ER. Glad to be done but no rest for me because we close on our new home in 6 days....if I make it. Had my doctors appt yesterday and 2cm dilated, very soft and baby low so we will see. I'm hoping to make it with an inside baby until after the move.

  • I feel like I'm holding things together a lot better during this pregnancy as opposed to my last one. I think I gave out much earlier last time due to non-pregnancy related stress within my family. Our c-section is scheduled for November 26th, and I plan to work until the 20th, when I will get off for the Thanksgiving break. I teach 7th grade, and so I will just roll around the classroom in a chair. My kids are understanding, but their questions are getting more and more interesting as the days go by.

  • I'm still working 3540 hrs a week up until baby comes. Lately I have to drag myself out of bad to go, I'd much rather be at home getting stuff ready than at work dealing with crabby patients. I was going to stop working November 2nd buuutt we'll see when little mss decides to make her appearance!

  • I'm still working full time.  I will work until the Thanksgiving holiday, or when LO decides to come.  Or until I just can't anymore.  Whichever comes first.

    THIS!

I will be leaving behind quite a handful for my supervisor to take over while I am gone and with me being so anal and OCD, I want to make sure I do as much as possible before I can't be at work anymore. I figure the more I get done on my own, the less she will have to do while I am gone and the less I will have to fix (hahaha! I really do love my supervisor) when I get back.

  • Current plan is to work right up until his arrival - however it is getting more and more tempting to have next Friday be my last day before Mat leave - that would put me at 40 weeks and 1 day I believe but also assumes he hasn't arrived yet.  Dr. and I discussed that inducing wouldn't be an option until 41 weeks so that would be a week I could be at work and use for after...  Hopefully he decides to come next weekend and decides for me!

  • I'm working right up until the end.  When I asked for my LOA to start after my due date, my HR rep thought I was crazy, but I was adamant.  The way it works with my company, is the day your leave starts is your last day.  If you go earlier, they will amend that, but not if you go later.  The last thing I wanted was to go early and wait at home for a month for the baby to arrive.  I get eight weeks, period, and I want them all to be spent at home with my son, my SO, and my new Star Wars BluRays.

It is tough though, and I am constantly stressed that I will go early and leave something unfinished, so I've been working a ridiculous number of hours.  Physically, I'm fine, but emotionally it's getting harder, because this is the last time for the next 30 years or so that it will be just SO and I.  Last night, we filled up the bathtub for some sexy splash time, and I fell asleep.  In the tub.  Romance, fail.

  • Working until he comes. While I had the time to take beforehand, it's our busiest time at work and my last deadline is two days before my EDD. I just don't have it in me to not be at work during that time. Also, I plan on taking 12 weeks after LO comes, so any time I take before that under FMLA would take off what I get at home after he comes. Not worth it to me. I will be working until 11/16, due date 11/18, I am taking off the week of Thanksgiving because I always do, and I'll return to work the Monday after if LO isn't here (he better be here!).

I'm freaking exhausted by the time I get home, especially since we are working overtime. I'm uncomfortable as heck in the office (it feels like it is sweltering in the place and I am swollen from almost the minute I get in), but I get to work from home two days a week and really flex my time so I can work at home on the weekends to get time/overtime in.

  • I'm working up until she comes. People think I'm crazy for it but honestly I don't see the purpose on taking maternity leave before she is even out of my belly. Why not use that time to be with the little one? Idk. I might just have that opinion since I don't feel tired and I have a fairly easy job (receptionist). Either way, more power to us!

  • I'm working until he arrives which is hopefully any day now.. I sit at a desk all day so I really can't justify taking off now and sitting at home. Plus, I'd feel so guilty being at home while still sending DS1 to daycare (there is no way I can run around after him all day - he's 2 1/2 - that's more exhausting than work!). I'm unfortunately mentally checked out here however. I just finished a major year long project and am not taking on anything too big at this point so I spend my days just trying to find little things to do to make the day pass. I seem to be spending a lot of my time here and on FB...not good!  I do wish I could be at home however, at least then I could get the house cleaned and organized!

  • I'm working up until baby girl arrives... I'll be working even a little bit after.  I run a business and even when I'm "off", I'm never really "off".   I do work from home though... so that's convenient.  Right now, I'm working my butt off trying to get as much done as possible!
  • I started part time (5hr days) last week.  I will be off full time at 39 weeks, which is the week of veteran's day for me.  I have zero energy and motivation.  It has been very hard to remain focused at work these days.  If I had enough leave/sick time I would stop working sooner.

  • I will work from home starting week 37, and then go out on week 39.

I'm tired by the end of the day, but have a desk job so it isn't too bad.  I have no idea how you elementary school teachers are handling it!

  • I am at 37 weeks, and pretty tired. I work on commissions, so my hours are very flexible. Next week I am going to start scaling back to about 4 hours a day, and my last planned day is Nov 9th (my due date is Nov 12). My company told me FMLA doesn't start until the baby is born, which is fine, I get paid "in arrears" so my pay for November is for October work. By the time LO gets here, my maternity pay will kick in.
  • I'm working until the end as well...and it's getting really tough to be "on". As an attorney working in a government agency I spend the majority of my time sitting at my desk reviewing incredibly dense and boring insurance jargon which is going splendidly with this fatigue....heh. I also find it more and more uncomfortable to sit for prolonged periods of time. I come home every afternoon with ideas of sanitizing bottles, washing baby clothes, setting up the nursery and I usually end up crashing on the couch until dinner time. We've been trying to create really productive weekend schedules and have managed to get most everything done this way.
  • I'm off work Nov 1 and EDD Nov 26th, so I gave myself a good deal of time to relax. I work wholesale/retail and November gets crazy for the holidays, I didn't want to be that stressed out.

That said, I am training my replacement, which has seriously cut into my dicking around at work time. I've barely been trolling the bump boards, and my Fantasy Football team has really suffered from my neglect. Plus, I'm stressed because I am horrible at verbalizing how to do things. But, at the same time so bored because I'm just watching someone else do my job.

Really looking forward to my babymoon in Palm Springs next week, then I can get focused and get stuff done.
