I haven't bought anything yet because we are waiting to find out the gender next Tues. I feel so far behind compared to everyone else, but know the gender will dictate the crib, bedding, registry items, etc. Anyone else in the same boat?
You're definitely not alone! I'm in the same boat, but we hope to find out by the end of the week at our gender reveal party.. and then the shopping will start. I've looked around and think we know what we're going to do, but just want to find out to really make our decision.

I've only started buying diapers. We won't know boy or girl next next Fri. There really isn't any reason to buy stuff now, we all have quite awhile until these babies arrive.
IKR! I want to friggin shop. Lol. I feel behind too. We found out the sex on 10/10. I was waiting until then at first. Then my Baby Shower Hostess (1st cousin) calls me about the shower in January 2013. I am the LAST to get preggers in my fam and they've been waiting on this for ages. My other fam members have finished having kids and there are several girls. So they've been packing boxes of girl's clothing, bedding, etc to hand down to me. This is my mom's first grandchild so I know she'll get my big ticket items (cribs, stroller, carseat, etc) from the registry. The only thing I really can buy at this point is clothes. I registered or am being donated everything else. BUT I don't want to end up with more clothes than I need either. Especially in size 0-3 months because she'll only be that little for a while. So, Idk what to buy. Guess I'll assess everything after the shower.
You are not alone. We have a crib, but haven't chose anything else for the nursery since we don't know if baby is a girl or boy yet. We have been buying diapers and that's about it. I cannot wait to start shopping for the baby once we know the gender!
The gender wasn't holding us back... its the renovations that are.... I needed new flooring and electrical work done in the nursery. So, I've only bought the bedding, that was so I could pick the paint colour. Other than that, I don't have room for anything, so we're waiting.

Your not the only one! trust me i wanna shop. I'm always checking online for the latest deals & perks when buying baby items. my SO & i find out the sex on thursday hopefully. im so excited i cant wait!
I really haven't bought anything (other than a carrier from mamabargains), but it's not really due to not knowing the sex. We pretty much have everything still from DDs, and most everything (minus most of the clothes) are gender neutral. Plus, I don't feel comfortable getting much before 24ish weeks. I guess the next purchase will be bunk beds for DDs so we can repurpose one of their crib/toddler beds for this LO.

Why does gender dictate the crib and other furniture choices? We bought a cherry crib and changing table to go with the cherry bookcase we already have. It will work for a boy or girl. I've seen both boys and girls rooms with every shade of wood. Just find a crib you like and buy it! I've registered for everything in both girl and boy colors, and when we find out I will remove the things that are the wrong color. I know it's more work, but I love to shop! You could also buy things that are gender neutral (swing, bouncy seat) that you know you will use for more than one baby.
Me too!! I've looked online and picked out what I like for a girl vs. boy though. And I have a general idea for the nursery under both circumstances, but I haven't actually purchased anything (though my MIL has - she even bought this walker thing the kid won't use for the first 6 months at least!). We find out Nov 2nd and both I and my husband took the entire day off from work to do baby stuff after the sono - I don't think he thought he had a choice . . .

This! I did the same thing on the registry... Both boy and girl and when we find out friday I'm just gonna delete whichever things I need too! I couldn't wait any longer to make the registry so I don't mind doing the extra few clicks to delete the girl or boy things!
We found out the gender yesterday, but we have not bought anything yet. We also wanted to wait to buy until we knew if LO was a boy or girl. We've had our crib, car seat & dresser picked out (same for either sex) but we wanted to 1. make space to put everything and 2. wanted to make baby shopping a big deal, since this may end up being our one&only child.
We also used this as a reason to slow down my family's crazy baby shopping. When we told them (the morning of BFP, 5weeks) my grandma tried to go shopping that day for our car seat, baby clothes, and anything else she thought we would need (thankfully my granddad & husband talked her out of that while I was at work).

I am with you!!! I can't wait. Ive heared from last appointment they want to do my next u/s on my 20th week. I can't wait, I want to start planning now. Ive so many things in my mind, ccolors/themes, etc.... waiting is torture!
We didn't find out the sex with our daughter (and we won't this time either) but we didn't finish the nursery until like a week before she was born. And I guess technically we didn't really finish it until she was 3 months old because it took us forever to choose the wall art.
Your baby needs a car seat, something to eat, something to wear and somewhere to sleep and that's really it. You are not behind at all and honestly if you are having a shower, you want to wait to buy a lot of stuff until after that.
We were 2 under 2, now 3 under 3!
