Short GTKY: Word pronounciation

I'm in an orientation class and the teacher keeps saying "basal ganglia" but pronouncing it "gangleeeye" instead of "gangleeuh" like I typically say it. I've also noticed that people in Georgia say "sontihmeter" instead of "sintuhmeter" centimeter.
Any words that people pronounce differently than you that you find slightly annoying or funny?

There is a city here called Lancaster. It is pronounced "LANK-ister", but people say "LAAAN-KASTER".
Also-- the word "Interesting". I say "ENTER-esting." Others say "INT-TRESTING".
The word Nevada. Where I am from at least, we pronounce it Nev-add-a. But I've heard people from elsewhere pronounce it Nev-ODD-a.
Drives me crazy. LOL
To me, it's not so much mispronounced words but words that can be pronounced different ways. Drives me nuts because I'll be like "Oh so that's how it's pronounced", then I'll use it with someone else and they'll say it a totally different way.
Case in point: "inquiry".
We have an "inquiry" screen in the software we use at work, so I use that word quite a bit. I always said "in-kwahyuhr-ee". Then I heard people say "in-kwuh-ree" so I thought "Dang, I've been saying it wrong all this time". So I switched to "in-kwuh-ree" and of course the first person I spoke too actually said "in-kwahyuhr-ee". THEN I looked it up and found out both ways to pronounce it were right. And because you don't "in-kw-uhrr" about something, but you actually "in-kwahyuhr", I've decided that from now on, I'll pronounce it "in-kwahyuhr-ee"

My middle school American history teacher did this - we learned all about George WARSHington. Would have driven me crazy if he hadn't been my favorite teacher.
Mischevous drives me crazy - its MISS-cheh-vus, not mis-CHEE-vee-us.
I drove my friends crazy for years by saying adhesive wrong - I said a-DEE-siv instead of ad-HEE-siv.
I think I am also guilty of saying these!

"catsup" vs. "ketchup" (I always thought this was American vs. Canadian but there are some in this province who say catsup too)

New found land vs Newfunland (correct way - rhymes with understand)
I could go on and on thanks to some crazy accents and local dialects.
Are you used to the Newfoundland accent yet? Or is it different up in Labrador? I met these guys once from NL and I thought for sure one of their names was "Mo-i-ko", then realized they meant "Michael". lol
