Mini Arms Reach Cosleeper

DH & I have a somewhat small MBR with it being longer than it is wide. We definitely want baby to sleep in our room for the first few months and am kind of stuck with what to use as baby's bed. A traditional pack n play is too bulky so that's out. I scoped out the bassinets online & at BRU today and was drawn to the Mini Arms Reach Cosleeper. But here's the only problem. We can't use it as a cosleeper per say. It would have to be at the foot of our bed, in the bassinet/pack n play mode with all sides up. Is this practical for this cosleeper? I won't be BF(medical reasons), so technically we will have to get up to feed baby in the middle of the night anyway. This cosleeper seemed super compact in the store, but wasn't sure if using it with all sides up defeated the purpose. Is it silly to have baby at the foot of the bed, instead of at the side(since we don't have the room there)?Ah if we only had a spacious MBR! :)

Re: Mini Arms Reach Cosleeper

  • We used it as a basinett instead of as a co-sleeper attached to the bed and I loved it (we had it to the side of the bed).  I've convinced myself that having DS sleep on a flat surface from day 1 helped him easily transition to his crib.

I will say that I did find myself constantly having to sit up to see into the co-sleeper to check on him, which was a little hard while I was recovering from a c-section, but I still think it was worth it.  I don't think it defeats the purpose to have it at the foot of the bed. You have to work with the space you have.

  • I don't have a baby yet, but I received a Pack and Play Travel Lite.  It is pretty small, but it doesn't have a side that drops down, other than that I think it does all of the same things.  You might want to see if that would work for you.

  • We just used ours as a bassinet last time and will be using it that way again with this LO. I kept ours on the side of our bed with the mesh facing me so I could see into it with out having to look over the side. I think it will be at the foot of our bed this time, I really need to see if it will fit next to our bed.

  • we have the full size one as our downstairs crib because the weight limit is much better fir twins than a pnp.  we have never had any issues with using it this way.  I liked the bassinet we used for dd1 because it rocked (as in side to side, hee hee  it rocked, yeah, it is 2;42am).  you might also check out the rock n play.  That is what we have in the mbr now.

  • I think you should be fine- if you were to use a pack and play (out of the question size wise though) it would be in a similar situation as the Arm's Reach anyway and not connect to the bed.
