Sleep sacks or blankets?

What does your LO wear to bed these days and do you use a sleep sack, blanket or something else?

We still use sleep sacks and I'm not in any hurry to get rid of them.  I just bought two more in size large and DH asked how much longer we need to use them.   I feel like when we put DS in it he knows it's time for sleep.  Underneath that I always dress him in long sleeve/pants PJs.  Our house is 72 degrees, but DS's room seems coldest for some reason.

T uses a sleep sack every night and I hope to keep using them through the winter.

  • He wears footed pajamas with a blanket. Blanket usually gets kicked off at some point.

  • Sleep sacks with warm jammies and his crochet blanket.  Our house is 67 during the day and gets to 63 at night.

  • I use a sleep sack with cotton long sleeve long pants pjs and she has a crocheted blanket as well. If she is wearing fleece footed jammies she just has her blanket. She doesn't really use the blanket as a blanket though, she more cuddles it, but she seems comfortable. Our house is 68 at night.
  • Only footed jammies. Our house stays about 68 to 69 during the day. Her room is the only one I turn a heater on in at night in case it gets colder.....but I set the heater to go on if it hits below 66.

  • We use footed pajamas most of the year (we switched to onesies or just a diaper during the summer), and always use a sleepsack.  We were using a cotton one for the summer and fleece for the cooler weather.  I need to find a couple of large ones.

You don't NEED to use a sleepsack, but they're damn handy.  Personally, I don't see the point in changing to a blanket just because that's what most people are used to.  As pp mentioned, blankets tend to get kicked off by babies/small children who move around a lot in their sleep. We started with the sleepsack because of the SIDS/suffocation risk, but we'll keep using it because it's just so practical.  Lily never has trouble with standing up in it; that would probably be the only reason I'd switch.

  • We use a blanket.  I'd like to switch to a sleepsack since inevitably at some point LBB rolls around so much he's blanketless, but DH doesn't want to put him in it at bedtime because he thinks he'll overheat, and I don't want to put him in it in the middle of the night because it will rouse him too much.

  • We use sleep sacks and pjs(top and pants). In the winter we'll use fleece sleep sacks. I keep the house around 68 at night during the winter. I hate having the heat on, it makes all of us stuffed up. Luckily it doesn't get that cold here. She has a blanket in her crib, but its a thin Aden+Anais one that she mostly just cuddles.

  • I was wondering the same thing.  We still use a sleep sack and I'm not in a hurry to get rid of it - i'm actually going to buy more for the winter.  Our house is usually 68 ish, but the house is old and drafty, so once we really hit winter, I know I'll feel better knowing he's wearing his blanket.
