Still not rolling

My lo is 7mth..6mth adjusted...he has no desire to roll still...hes done it a few times on my bed and once on the floor but other then that nothing.....he laughs, smiles, grabs, love to stand, talks tons. I've tried training him the way I trained mg dog, getting him pissed, rolling him myself over and over.....doc said just give him plenty if tummy time but I'm getting scarred that hes not getting it

Re: Still not rolling

  • Also he sits up for a few seconds

  • My son, Aiden started rolling when he was 8 months/5 adjusted.  But he literally did it like 4 times and then never again until a few months later.  I wouldn't worry about it if he's done it a handful of times already.

  • This sounds alot like my daughter.  She rolled from her belly to her back to avoid tummy time at 3 months adjusted but she didnt start consistently rolling both ways until just past 6 months adjusted.  That is also when she started rolling to her belly to sleep.  Lots of floor time will help!

  • DD rolled occasionally from front to back starting when she was about 5 months actual, but it really wasn't on purpose. She didn't roll with intent until she was 9 months actual. Within 2 months, though, she rolled, crawled, and walked. So she went from immobile at 9 months to walking at 11 - it can go very fast!!

  • Don't freak out!  The is the one thing that DD could not get.  In fact, she started crawling at 9m actual before she could roll.  As long as you feel like his core is okay (it sounds like it from standing and sitting) and he is doing well with everything else, try not to stress about it.  Keep encouraging it, but don't worry if he doesn't do it.

I know it's tough, but DD is a perfect 2.5 year old now despite her reluctance to roll.
