Posting on Facebook/Myspace

Are you ladies that have a facebook or myspace account posting anything about your pregnancy? I haven't announced mine via facebook status, but I know some people do. Also, when you have the baby will that be announced? Will you be posting updates? Pictures?

I keep both these accounts (Myspace is rarely used) private so that only my friends can see my profiles. I'm just not sure if it is somewhat tacky to advertise all of this to the viewing public.

What are your opinions? If you are not, how are you updating family/friends that are hours away and you don't see/talk to often?

Re: Posting on Facebook/Myspace

  • I have a ticker on my myspace, and a picture of my pee stick.  DH has it all over his page that he's gonna be a daddy.  I too am private to friends only...

  • I announced on myspace at 12w, and I post new (fully clothed) belly pics every week.  Mine is only accesible to my friends, and it's all people I know IRL, so I think it's an easy way to spread the news to old friends from college, cousins, etc.

And yes I will be posting pics and updates throughout the pregnancy, and after she's born.

  • I/we have a myspace.... When we foud out we were PG we put it on there.
We update it with u/s pictures. Our family lives 2 hours away from us and I dont want to call everyone after every appt. SO we update our myspace accts.
I don't think its tacky at all.
  • We never announced the pregnancy on Facebook, but people have said things like congratulations i heard through the grapevine or asked how are you feeling. I'm sure once the baby is born, we'll post a picture or two up and the date, time, name, lbs, and height, but that'll be it other than occasional updates for our friends who live far away to see.
  • My family is spread out across the US, so I put up some pics/updates on facebook. It's an easy way to communicate with them.
  • I have a gender poll on my myspace page. I don't see anything wrong with it, especially if your profile is set to private.

  • yes it's on both.  My pics and such are there.  My profile is friends only on both ms and fb... so I don't mind putting the info up there.

  • Some of my extended family, that are closer with my parents, have found out things through their kids that I communicate with on Facebook.

    I love it.

  • I have both, but don't use them much. I do have a ticker on my myspace and have ultrasound photos on both.
  • My ultrasound pic is my profile picture on facebook. My profile is set to private anyways.

  • I announced the pregnancy on Facebook once I hit about 13 weeks.  Since then, I've posted that we're having a boy, and I have the u/s pics posted and some belly pics.  The only bare belly pic I have on there is from verrrry early in the pregnancy.  The other ones are fully clothed.  My profile is friends only, and all my friends are people I know IRL.
  • We announced on both. It's the only way I keep in touch with some of my far flung friends. They are both private, and all of my "friends" I actually know IRL.
  • my DH and both have FB, we "announced" at about 13 weeks - it's our friends and family IRL and both accts are set to private, so not just any Tom, ***, or Harry can check our sites out. It's a cool way to keep people far away updated.
