Do you believe in ghosts or psychics?

I believe in both. I really really want to visit a psychic medium.

If you have a story, share it!

Re: Do you believe in ghosts or psychics?

  • I don't. But I told DH that if I die, he has to go to a psychic so I can talk to him, lol.

  • I believe in both, but only to a certain degree.  for example, I think most psychics are phonies trying to make money. But I believe that some people do have psychic abilities.  Also I kind of believe in restless sprirts or the spirits of loved ones that stay close to us, but I don't believe in ghost stories or haunted houses...

  • I definitely believe. I lost my father in a tragic way and have felt what I believe was him twice now. Once about six years ago when the ME was describing his death in detail in a courtroom, I began feeling ill and felt a reassuring hand squeeze my upper arm. I turned to see if it might have been my aunt, there was no one there. That's when I heard his laugh, which is a distinct, boisterous sound that was unmistakably him. I figured that was his way of showing me he was with me.

The second time was years later, right after E was born. It was the middle of the night and I was soooo tired and frustrated when she wouldn't sleep. I felt the same reassuring squeeze on my arm.

Another encounter was a few weeks ago. I was feeling anxious in E's room, like I was being watched while I fed her. I went to bed shortly after and was slowly falling asleep when I felt a weird atmosphere change at my bedside that jarred me awake. When I opened my eyes there was a hooded figure in black. I know, cliche right? I didn't feel fearful just surprised. I haven't felt anything recently after a friend of mine whose friend is a medium told me to imagine a bright, white warm light enveloping the room. Our conclusion is that there were some looky loos stopping by to see E. I feel that the hooded figure followed me from a friend's home since she and her son have troubles with nightmares and always attract that sort if thing.

I have a few other stories but don't want to make this too long. If anyone is interested in hearing about the white cat at my old house I'd be willing to tell.

  • I'm not sure about psychics, but I've heard too many stories to not believe in ghosts. Here are a couple of my favorites.

    1. The preacher at a church we used to attend had a haunted house (their neighbors had a poultergeist). He didn't like women and one night they had a ladies' night where several ladies stayed over. One of them woke up screaming because she had seen a man standing over here.

Another time he followed a woman home in her car (she kept thinking she saw someone in the rear view mirror) and when she got home he flashed her headlights several times.

One time the son was going surfing in the early morning and he saw a man sitting in the dark living room and shaking his head at him, pointing to the board. He decided not to go that day and found out the waves were deceptively dangerous that day.

    2. My best friend lost her mother to cancer very suddenly about 2 years before she married. This particular friend sees spirits and told me while were getting ready on her wedding day that she saw her mother, who was wearing a blue dress. During the ceremony, her mother's memory candle blew out and she and several others told me later that a woman in a blue dress blew the candle out (there is also something fuzzy on the photos).

Tell us! Tell us! I love these stories.

When we first moved in to the house, my brother and I were visiting my dad for the summer, so it was just my mom and our black cat. On the first night there, Mom let the cat out for the night then went to bed. She woke up in the middle of the night because she felt something jump hard onto her legs. I would occasionally see it sitting on the vanity in my mom's room and even a friend if mine commented on how pretty my white cat was. One night a friend and I were hanging out in my mom's room watching tv when we went into the en suite bathroom to wash our hands. We were looking in the mirror and just talking when we saw something white jump down from the vanity and run across the floor and out of the room. When we turned our heads nothing was there. My friend was like, "Was that a little white dog?". I had to tell her that I was pretty sure it was the ghost cat. I hadn't seen it around for a while, but my mom claims that clothes have been pulled off of hangers in my old room which is always closed off to the animals.

I guess the creepiest story would be that two friends and I were hanging out at a park across the street from my house at night. We kept seeing something dart between the trees and peeking at us. As we ignored it, it came closer and closer. We realized it looked like a woman wearing a white robe or dress and she had a little black cat with her. When we got back to my house my friend got out her brand new, unopened deck of fairy style tarot cards. She turned them over and spread them out and we "felt" out the cards thought were pertinent. We thought this woman might be trying to tell us something. We finally got down to one card that we all decided was "the one" and when we turned it over, we were floored. The card was called "Woman in White". I don't remember what the meaning was, but I'm pretty sure she was being mischievous and was just letting us know she was around.

  • Psychics no, ghosts maybe.  I don't have any personal reasons to believe in ghosts though.

  • I sort of believe in psychics. Back in 2003 I went to a psychic fair with a friend who convinced me to get a reading. I went in and the lady took my hand and then got tears in her eyes and told me I was going to go through a really hard time but I would be OK. I just needed faith. Two days later my boyfriend of two years died in a car accident. I still have a hard time believing psychics are real but I do believe this lady sensed something.

For what it's worth, she gave my friend a reading before me and it was one of those generic "You are a strong woman, you will do great things." readings with no emotion involved at all.

  • Great stories!

I would love to sit down with the Long Island Medium, Theresa. Or John Edward.

  • I believe in both. I have never been to a psychic but would love to go.

My family has had many experiences with ghost. My grandfather farms and has a barn on his property that he has worked on since he was 18. While he was working on the farm a little girl who lived in the house on the property accidently hung herself in the barn while swinging from a rope and my grandfather found her dead. Now my grandparents live in the house on the property and see things moving all the time. My brother has seen a little girl who yelled his name in the woods behind the house, my mom saw balls rolling up and down the hall ways when she lived there as a little girl, and my uncle has heard foot steps running around the house.

My personal experience was at our family cabin. I was up at 3am one night because I have type 1 diabetes and my blood sugar was low. I was standing in the living room drinking some jucice and saw a man standing near my parents bedroom, I turned around and said "hi dad" as my initial thought was must be my dad was up,when I turned to look at him he was gone and dad was in bed sleeping. I told my parents the next morning and my descrption was exactly the old man that had built the cabin we baught.
