Vent : Doctor (CP) (possible loss)

Friday I got a BFP, followed by 2 more BFP , I repeated one on saturday to show DH and got a BFP. Sunday I took two and got BFN.

So i decided to call my doctor this morning which turned into me getting blood done and they called me back in a matter of an hour.

Verdict is my level is under 5 and I am not pregnant. SO I went on to ask how it is possible for my levels to be at least 9-20 on friday (as I got BFP's) and be under 5 by monday without any bleeding.

She proceeded to tell me should could not explain it and that its possible my tests were faulty...

Really...all 4 tests were faulty? one digital, one regular and two cheapies. I figure it was a Chemical but still Im kind of mad that my doctor's nurse basically said I was a liar.

  • Wow, I am so sorry you are having to go through all this! I also find it hard to believe that all those tests could have been faulty...I'm sure it's possible but it doesn't seem likely.

Sending you lots of positive thoughts that you get a sticky pregnancy and baby very very soon! You guys have been through enough. (((hugs)))

  • I am really sorry. I don't think she was calling you a liar, I just think she was an idiot. I basically got the same spiel from the nurse at my OB when I got my weird BFP on a cheapie test followed by a digital. She said she "doesn't ever trust hpt's for this reason." Well, that's nice and all, but I didn't hallucinate seeing the word "pregnant" without a "not" in front of it. And I doubt that the test was just f ucking with me for s hits and giggles, either.
July 20th, 2012: Never forget the day the fb douchebags tried so hard, but ultimately failed. Viva la October 2011! Yeah, I called you douchebags.

My biggest confusion, is that to get a pregnant you have to have a certain amount of HCG in your urine. So how does one get it if it is non existent.

I did test last week and got a negative so I find it odd that I had a negative last week then positives for two days in a row... Guess Its april fools day in my uterus. :)

  • You can have small amounts of HCG but under 25 is considered not pregnant by my OB. Did they tell you your actual levels? I would test again with FMU on Wednesday if you don't start bleeding. Were you using the same brand/batch all the times you tested? I'm sorry your doctors office is being so sucky. :/

They said my level was under 5, and to my knowledge the earliest test is 10.

nope, I used a wondo then a clearblue digital then a clearblue easy then another wondo.

I have come to terms that I will have to try again, Just sucks because Im not crazy, I saw two lines and a "pregnant" lol

  • I'm really sorry you have to go through this. Sorry the nurse is being kind of crappy. She could have just left it as "I don't have an answer." Anyways, more hugs coming your way and you keep those spirits up! Wishing you the best!

    Thank you :)

Guess I will get to use those ovulation tests after all

  • I'm sorry your going through this. I agree that nurse is an idiot. There is no way you got that many false positives. It's definitely possible you had a cp. Bleeding doesn't necessarily start as soon as the levels begin to go down. A lot of times people won't bleed at all until hcg is less than 5. Sometimes not for awhile after. Did your OB follow your hcg down to zero with bloodwork after your loss? Maybe there was some remaining hcg from then. It's not uncommon for the levels to take months to go all the way down. Either way I'm sorry. You've definitely been through enough.

With my previous loss yes she followed it all the way down to zero (which took forever ).

From what I have read Bleeding from a CP usually takes 2-7 days to start once the HCG drops so I am hoping it happens soon.

  • I'm really sorry for all that you have had to go through.  Lots of hugs!
