C-sections

Hives on scar?

It's been over three years since my c-section and I'll still wake up sometimes with a random hive or two along the incision line.  I've noticed it a couple times since I found out I was pregnant again. (In fact I had one the day of my bfp, and then again this morning)

Has anyone else had this?  Just wondering if it's a random event or if there's some explanation for it.

Re: Hives on scar?

  • I had hives for about a week after my c/s.  They eventually spread all over me and it turned out I was allergic to something related to the c/s (they couldn't identift what).  After a nice round of steroids, I was good.

I'd let your doctor know that you have them.  I have never heard of it.  It could be a hormone thing?  Are they itchy?

  • I had hives/rash in the days following my c-section. The doc thought that it was probably an allergy to the adhesive tape that was used on and around the incision. She told me to use hydrocortizone cream and benadryl.  Once it cleared up, I didn't have any more problems.  I cannot imagine what would be causing hives to return after all this time.

Good luck, and I hope you get this cleared up and feel better.
