So... games for a 46 y/o? Or games for kids who are 4 and 6? Kidding!
Although I am a 43 y/o avid video game player!
My kids enjoy: many of the Mario games, which are fun to play and absolutely acceptable for small kids. We like Mario Kart, Super Paper Mario, and Mario Galaxy. Super Mario Bros. Wii is pretty hard to play!
My son got Skylanders last year for Christmas, which he enjoyed. It got an E10 rating, but I'm not sure why. It's possibly a tiny bit "scarier" than the Mario games, but I was comfortable with him playing it at age 7.
If you don't have Wii Sports Resort, I'd recommend it. It's a huge hit with everyone in our family.
If you're looking for something that's not heavily combat-oriented, try Animal Crossing. Kids need to have at least some ability to read to enjoy this game, though.
The Lego franchise of games is also really fun for big kids and small kids. Lego Star Wars is the easiest. Indiana Jones and Harry Potter are harder. I loved that 2 kids could play at the same time and cooperate to solve each level. We got it when my kids were 4 and 8. When they started playing it, they were siblings. By the time they finished the game, they were best friends.
Rowan has enjoyed Donkey Kong since he was 3-1/2 - he's now 5 and can actually pass a level. We're not big gamers, though. His friends are 5yo twins and play Dance Dance Revolution like pros.
I thought you were shopping for your husband the World War II buff. Lol!
LMAO. I was trying to figure out why you confused me with someone whose husband is a WWII fan until I reread it. Sometimes I have my iPhone, it makes me look like a moron by changing things.
Oh, and I would love the oldschool versions of Super Mario and Sonic but I would never play if they are difficult since I would rarely ever play without the kids.
