Milk Intolerance - New

After weaning (at a year), my daughter hated milk - she would only selectively drink soy milk at best.  Recently, we've been trying to get her to drink more - just regular whole milk.  She's LOVING it now and drinks several sippy cups a day of it.  However, this has also brought on diarrhea that is making diaper changing miserable for her.  She has a rash. :(  I really think it's because of the milk intake.  We've stopped giving her milk altogether until this clears up and I'm obviously going to ask her doctor about it but wanted to know what you all thought.  Do you have any experience with this?  It doesn't seem like an allergy just sort of an intolerance b/c she eats tons of cheese and yogurt just fine.  It's really just the milk.

Thoughts?

  • LO has trouble with milk when it's in large quantities.  We switched him to lactose free milk for when he drinks cups of milk, but he still eats regular cheese, yogurt, etc just fine.

  • Our LO was just diagnosed with a lactose intollerance.  We now have lactose free milk and lactose free yogurt and go easy on the cheese.  Our little guy had diarrhea on and off for over two months though, so it was a big deal.  Getting rid of the milk products has really helped a lot in the past few weeks!
