Petty DH vent...tell me he's not the only one

Why are men so annoying when they are sick? Seriously. Early in the week the kids caught the stomach flu and it lasted about 24 hrs. Then I got it. DH helped me out and stayed home from work. It lasted less than 24 hrs and I was fine. Well, DH was sick Friday morning and he is STILL SICK. He has laid in bed for 2 full days and he just went back up this morning. Omg I'm going to punch him if he tells me he must have got it worse. He ALWAYS gets it worse. He's just a f.cking baby. I know he's not trying to annoy me but I can't help it. Anyone else's hub like this?

  • DH is extremely whiny/needy when sick, but I wouldn't call him a "f.cking baby" and be angry that he was sick two days later--especially since he stayed home from work to help you when you were sick.

I learned a long time ago not to guess how DH is feeling and assume he's overreacting.  We both got stomach bugs within a few days of each other, but his was way worse than mine--he ended up a nasty shade of grey and hooked to IV for severe dehydration.  Not everyone's bodies handle a sickness the same way.

  • I totally understand.  DH and I got colds at the same time.  Granted, he did get it worse.  BUT he would have coughing fits 1-2x a night and NEVER F-ing covered his mouth.  I exaggerated and showed him yesterday - he is turned towards me in bed hacking.  Really?!  Turn the other way and cover you F-ing mouth!!!

    Drives me bat sh!t crazy.

Mine does that too. If he so much as gets the sniffles he convinces himself that he's dying and he puts on a big dramatic show of it. The last time he did this I told him that if he doesn't buck up and start acting like a man I was going to send him to his mommy.

LOL I'm trying this if he doesn't man up soon.

Well I told you it was petty and that I know he's not trying to bug me. Glad your H got better. That must have been scary for you.

  • Nope I sound more like your hubby. He is the exact opposite and goes and goes and tries to work the sickness out.  He won't show up to work because he doesn't want to pass it on. But he will do things around the home. He has to have pneumonia before he starts to slow down.

  • DH is a pretty big baby when he is sick, but he's actually gotten at lot better since DD was born.  Meaning, he now keeps his whining to himself and doesn't ask me bring him something - tissues, water, the remote - every five minutes like he used to!

  • My FI is the same way. DS was sick earlier this month with a stuffy nosy and cough. I got it a few days after him and a day later my FI got it. We both had the same symptoms; cough, stuffy nose, sinus headache and scratchy throat, just one day apart. I will push through any sickness but my FI no matter what will act as though it is the end of the world and is in bed all day or just moping around and complaining. I will give him a little credit though he will go to work and doesnt take too many days off but still.

  • DH is terrible, too.  The littlest anything is the biggest deal - cut, cold, cough, you name it.  He is the biggest baby.  Anytime he gets a tickle in his throat the chloraseptic comes out.

  • I would describe my husband in exactly the same way when he's sick! It's so irritating!!

Also, if we're around his family when he has even the SLIGHTEST sniffle, it becomes a deadly virus. I'm surprised that he doesn't ask his mom to tuck him in when he's sick. It's super ridiculous.

We also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. And HOPE does not dissappoint.
