VBAC

Multiple VBAC????

My nurse asked me if I was considering a VBAC for my twins.  I hadn't even thought of it. I thought it would have been a given that having twins after a c/s meant a RCS. Has anyone had a successful VBAC for multiples?

Re: Multiple VBAC????

  • My OB is well known in the area for being the only OB to do vaginal breach births and one of the only ones who routinely does vaginal twin births.  I know of at least two of his patients who had successful twin VBAC's only because it was posted in his office.  I don't know the details but I do know that it can be done.  GL!!

If you have a provider who's willing to do a twin VBAC, I would go for it!

    DS2 - Oct 2010 (my VBAC baby!)

  • I had no idea it was even an option.  The only other person I know who had twins said her OB insisted on c/s for twins.  I avoid Facebook (DH's ex is a psycho-stalker), but I will look into the option.  Thanks!

  • The receptionist at my OBs office just told me about her SILs twin VBAC. Both babies were over 8 lbs too! So it definitely can be done!

A good friend of mine is pregnant with twins and was given the option and she's trying to decide now whether to do it, but is leaning towards attempting VBAC.

  • We have had one poster that I know of who had a VBAC with twins.  I'm pretty sure her birth story is on our blog, vbacbumpies.blogspot.com.  But yes, if you are otherwise favorable for a vaginal birth with twins, your prior cesarean does not automatically prevent you from having one.  GL.

My doctor has delivered a triplet VBAC...actually it was a VBA2C!  I'm guessing he's done twins also.  For me, it would depend on why you had the initial c-section and how the twins are positioned.  If you have an OB who is game, that would be awesome!
