Ladies with TSH Between 3 and 3.5

Are you on Synthroid (or similar drug) and if so, what dose? After 4 docs refused to treat me (my latest TSH was 3.2 and all other thyroid tests normal), I saw a medical endo last week.  He agreed to treat me, but mentioned he didn't think it would help with TTC.  I honestly got the sense that he was humoring me. Just like the others, he mentioned that the thyroid would need to be followed closely when/if I got pregnant and treatment might definitely be needed then. For now, he put me on a dose of 25 mg of Synthroid (which I read is a sub therapeutic dose).  

This is now the 5th medical professional who didn't think my levels were a big deal at this point.  I am starting to get very confused because this really contradicts with what I read on the boards.  I don't want to start taking a drug that is not really needed and do myself more harm than good in terms of added side effects and the potential to really throw my thyroid out of whack.

What do you think?

2/12-5/12: 4 IUI cycles = all BFN;
7/12: DE IVF # 1 (with ICSI)- 20R, 16M, 14F, 5DT of 2 blasts; 6 frosties = BFN;
Lupus anticoagulant initially high, then found to be normal on hematology consult;
Follow up testing in September all clear;
Started synthroid for "high normal" TSH;
FET # 1- late October 2012- BFP on FRER; beta # 1- 21(low), beta # 2- 48 (still low), beta # 3- 132, beta # 4- 1,293; beta # 5- 5,606; last beta- over 100,000. First u/s 11/21- heard heartbeat
12/12- Officially an OB patient!
Level 2 ultrasound at 20 weeks shows vasa previa and VCI
Referral to MFM and mandatory c section for delivery
Beautiful baby girl born at 34 weeks
Finally home after 15 day NICU stay!
Trying for sibling: FET # 2- May 2014; beta 5/31, BFN
FET #3, early July 2014; beta 7/14, BFN
DE IVF # 2- August 2014; 14R, 13M, 11F, 5dt of 2 blasts (3 AA), 5 frosties = BFN
FET #4- December 2014, yet another BFN

Dr. KK work up shows borderline uterine blood flow, elevated NK cells, and MTHFR mutation (homozygous for c677t)

Added baby aspirin, prednisone, supplements, Metanx, and intralipids

Switched to large clinic for final attempt; had endometrial receptivity testing in January; FET March 2015 = yet another BFN

Likely OAD- NBC

    My TSH was 3.7 as of last monday and my RE put me on 25 mcg (micrograms) a very low dose. He doesn't think it will affect my ability to get PG, but he wants to be sure (he likes it under 2.5 and last year it was 2.4) he said if I wasn't trying to get PG it wouldn't even be an issue. 

    So I don't know if this helps you, but I just went through this all last week!

    btw, I get retested in a month and then regularly through a PG if we're lucky.

    The TSH level isn't so much for you to more likely get PG. It's so that when you do, your child will be healthier. TSH levels above 2.0 have been linked to higher pg issues, premature births, abnormalities, etc.. That's why your IVF doc wants you on it.

    Mine was only 2.2 when I first tested and they required me to get on Synthroid, however my regular docs would not prescribe it to me, so the IVF doc ended up doing it. He put me on 50 mg of Synthroid. Within 2 weeks I was down to 1.8.

    That was 4 years ago and I stayed on it because I knew when I wanted to get PG again, I'd need to and it would be difficult to get my regular docs to prescribe it. Most of them are not familiar with all the ins and outs of IVF. My IVF Dr has the highest success rate in the country and is incredibly well known.

    Both my medical endo and RE want my TSH between 2 and 2.5. 

    I have been on synthroid for several years and haven't experienced any side effects.

    My TSH before was around 3.6.  My RE wants it under 2.5 and since I was already diagnosed with Hashimoto's I was put on Synthroid and am on a 50 mcg dose and have been for just over a year.  My levels now are around 2.0.  
    TTC #1 since 2/2011. Me: Age 36. Stage III Endo and Hashimoto's Thyroiditis.
    IUI #1 March: BFN, IUI #2 April: BFN.
    IVF #1: Started stims 7/30--CANCELLED.
    IVF #1.2: Stims start 10/8/12, ER: 10/20/12; 11R/8M/4F, 5DT: 10/25/12, transfer of a 4AA and 3AB Blast. BFP on HPT 10/31/12; Beta #1: (16 DPO) 954! Beta #2: (18 DPO) 1968! First U/S: TWINS!! A/S: TWO BOYS! EDD: 7/13/13

    Mine was 3.56 when my RE first tested it and he wanted it less than 2. I take 25mcg (I think the dosage is in mcg and not mg) and my levels are now fine. I also have a family history of hypo and with RPL it just made sense to cover all bases.

    BFP #3: 10/2011 ectopic 11/2011 (right tube removed, learned left tube was probably nonfunctional due to scar tissue from infection after m/c)

    3 failed IUIs, IVF #1: 18R, 12M, 10F, 3 poor quality 5d embryos transferred= BFP #4!!!!!

    Betas: 9dp5dt: 64 ~14dp5dt: 91 (expecting miscarriage, doubling time of 236 hours) ~16dp5dt: 200~18dp5dt: 500

    First Ultrasound at 6w2d revealed two sacs, only one with a heartbeat

    LK arrived after 42 weeks on August 14, 2013! Beautiful, healthy, and happy!

    TTC#2: IVF booked for April 2015

    Surprise BFP#5 February 19, 2015 EDD: November 2, 2015

    Betas: 10dpo: 10, 14dpo: 77, 17dpo: 270

    First Ultrasound at 5w1d showed a miracle UTE baby! And right ovary ovulation to left fallopian tube.

    JD arrived at 38 weeks on October 20, 2015.

    TTC #3: Since October 2017. BFP #6 July 2, 2018 EDD: March 16, 2019 [/spoiler]

    My TSH is 3.2 and I'm on 75 mg of synthroid -- I just had another TSH test done today and hopefully I've come down a bit.

    I've seen a medical endo for years & in fact just saw him on the 12th. Last year my TSH was 1.130 and I have been taking Levothyroxine 112 mcg all year. However, my level from the 12th's lab results was 3.330. My dr sent me a message stating "this is normal but I would really like it closer to one since you are trying to become pregnant" and he changed my dose to 125 mcg. He has always said that as soon as I find out I'm PG to call his nurse directly for an appt, that he doesn't want me waiting a week or so to see him. I'm not positive if it has to do with getting PG or staying PG, but whichever it is my endo seems to take it very seriously.

    Thanks, ladies. I am going to discuss with my RE at the next appointment and go from there.  Interestingly enough, he was one of the ones saying it was not necessary at this time.  He wants to re-run levels when I go back in later this week.

    The medical endo did mention if I get pregnant, I need to call him stat.

    Mine was 2.9 and my RE wanted it under 2.5.  I am on 25mcg of levothyroxine and my level was under 2.0 when I had my bloodwork done again.
