TMI: Marital Relations

So little man is 5 months now, and DH and I have been intimate twice. DS is a very high needs baby, and I work 80 hours a week, so we're exhausted. But I still have the desire. A big problem was that the two times we tried, it hurt so bad I had to stop. I'm breastfeeding, but we used A LOT of lube. An it doesn't hurt where I was stitched, but further up.

I see all these posts here and in 36mo about ladies pregnant with another already. Is it just variable by person? Should I call the midwives and get checked out?

Re: TMI: Marital Relations

  • It wouldn't hurt to get it checked out.  SIL took 6 months to heal and had to have a minor surgery to help in the healing process.  Every person has a different experience.  We don't often, but it's not because of pain.  At this point if it is painful, I would defiitely go see your midwife or dr.

  • It is because of the breastfeeding.  It is very common for sex to be painful when you are breastfeeding.
  • It hurt at first, but then we did it a few more times and everything went back to normal. I mean, I'm not a sexpert or anything but I have noticed after we don't have sex for too long, like maybe two weeks, I am tighter and it's a little more painful. I think you probably need to keep at it and stretch yourself back to normal.

I am EBF and I do not find sex painful at all anymore.

  • I think as far as marital relations, it is unique to each person.

I EBF and we're good. It's not painful at all and I am expecting our second child.

If you feel you want to talk to someone about it, you should. Maybe a doctor could have a better solution as to what you should do.
    Every experience is different.

  • H and I still haven't had sex and LO is 5 months. With DS, we couldn't for 9 months because it hurt so bad. I honestly have no desire to either.

    I agree

    Lube never helped me out.

I just weaned DS#2 and this weekend I finally felt like sex was enjoyable. It is hard to replace natural lube.
